How long in between liposuction procedures do you have to wait?

Question

Tummy tuck and muscle repair 3 and half months ago. Upper belly and chin lipo a month ago. I am still extremely unhappy cause my upper belly is big. Can I get more lipo? It was confirmed to be fat and not swelling. I had touch up lipo on my upper belly Aug 31 and there is still uneven fat left.. He only took out 5 oz he said. While I was awake. Would I be able to go back in and do more lipo a month later ?

You need to wait 2-3 months between procedures. I specialize in revisions and for best results I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermiRF/J Plasma/Renuvion/InMode BodyTite and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. The definitive correction for liposuction deformities involves the advanced technology of ultrasound assisted VASER liposuction. As an official trainer for VASER liposuction, I encounter botched liposuction results weekly. VASER liposuction is the only modality to ensure a smooth contour regardless of severity in contour abnormalities by virtue of being able to remove any and all remaining fat comprehensively and uniformly. it is certainly safe to do liposuction again however, you need to remember that you will continue to improve for many months after liposuction especially Smartlipo. I would add that you need to realize that you can influence your final result by better dieting and exercise. you cannot expect any procedure to make you fantastic without accepting some role in the final result.david berman md

Dear Twoboystwogirls,Hello and thank you for your excellent question. Yes, you can have additional liposuction performed on these areas.  However, I STRONGLY advise you to wait at least six months, as 1) it can take months for swelling to resolve, and 2) it is impossible to make an appropriate surgical plan until your final outcome is realized. If you operate too early, you strongly risk causing damage that cannot be repaired. I have found that many patients can get GOOD results with liposuction alone, and EXCELLENT results with IDEAL Liposuction! IDEAL Lipo is a proprietary technique that we have been developing for the past 12 years. First off, all devices and instruments used are FDA-approved, unlike many fat harvest and transfer devices beying used today. These procedures are typically performed in the office, with only local anesthesia (although patients can request deeper sedation, if they so desire). We typically use Smart / Laser Liposuction or VASER (ultrasound) to reduce dense, fibrous fat, and stimulate collagen formation; Radiofrequency-based skin tightening (like Body Tite, or Thermi) to maximize skin contraction; and Ultrasound, RF, or subcision (Z Wave, Venus, Cellfina) to treat cellulite. Patients go home the day of surgery; typically do not use any narcotics postop for pain control, and are back to light exercise and work 48 hours after their procedures. In my practice, we specifically evaluate patients for these additional treatments, and select the appropriate treatment based on their skin quality, amount of fat, previous treatment(s), and surgical goals. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure.
