My eyelids drooped after Botox on my forehead! Once the Botox wears off will my eyelids go back to what they were?

Sometimes
Botox injections can be placed too low, or too much of the substance has been
placed in your forehead (this can happen if you have a small forehead) or the
product has migrated causing the eyelids to droop. Iopidine eye drops will be
helpful but you may also find that additional Botox can be used to treat
asymmetry and can work to raise the brow and the eyelid. Please ensure you
visit a practitioner with plenty of experience in this technique if you
decide to try this. You may of had a bad experience this time resulting in a
dropping eye, but this doesn't and won't always happen so don't let this
deter you. Try to visit another practitioner next time who is highly
experienced and will know the right doseage as well as the right areas to
inject to minimise the chances of this happening again. The skin should
bounce back to where it was before and you'll see this happen gradually
within 3-6 months.

(ptosis) is a common complication from Botox injections. As the Botox begins to
wear off, over the next two to three months, you will see your eyelids return
to normal. Remember, while some side-effects from Botox are unavoidable, it is
important to use a board certified plastic surgeon, which reduces your risks.

Yes.  Your eyelid will go back to normal.  And the good news is, that because the botox was injected into your forehead or glabella, and not directly into your eyelid, it wont last as long as the rest of your botox! So in just a month or two, you will notice a dramatic difference.  As your doctor for a prescription of drops to help alleviate the droop in the short term.  And always make sure to check the credentials of the injector- knowledge of facial anatomy is critical to getting safe and effective injections.  - Dr. Amalfi

Newvera- you're not alone!! Many people get this unfortunate side effect from Botox. It stems from over weakening the forehead muscle in the wrong places. This allows your eye brow to fall which is the start of the eyelid.... so you get heavy eyelids- good Botox has the opposite effect. 

Hopefully it won't take a full 3mo for this to wear off but it could. You'll be back to normal in no time. If you get treatment again - communicate this to your injector or find a different injector who avoids this unwanted side effect!

Thank you for your question. Eyelid ptosis is a very rare complication of Botox. Unfortunately, there is nothing can really be done other than waiting till the Botox wears off. You can try Iopidine eye drops, this helps keep the eyelid open. You can expect to see improvement as soon as 4-6 weeks after injection, however it can take 3-4 months to completely resolve. I recommend making this known to injector so this can be avoided in the future and to determine the best treatment for you. Best of Luck!

Eyelid ptosis (droopiness) is a rare complication after Botox injection and occurs when the Botox diffuses to the levator muscle of the eyelid. EyeBROW ptosis is more common and usually occurs when a provider injects too much Botox into the frontalis muscle or injects too close to the eyebrow. Either way, the Botox will wear off after 3-4 months and your eyelids will return to normal.

I'm so sorry to hear that you experienced this rare complication from Botox treatments.  Very rarely, Botox injected between the eyebrows can drift and affect the muscles that are responsible for lifting the eyelids, causing a droopy eyelid (also known as eyelid ptosis).  I would recommend that you schedule a follow-up appointment with your physician - in some cases, Iopidine eye drops can help lift the eyelids by a few millimeters.  Luckily, the effects of Botox are temporary, and your eyelids should return to normal within 2-3 months.  Best of luck!     

When you use Botox for forehead wrinkles, it paralyzes the only muscle that can elevate your eyebrows and, consequently, your eyelids can get droopy.  Once the Botox wears off, your eyelids will return to their previous location.  There are some drops your practitioner can prescribe that can help raise them a bit in the meantime.  Good luck.

You should be fine in 3-4 months once the Botox wears off. If you decide to go back to the same injector for more Botox, I would recommend speaking with them about what happened to you so future incidents can be avoided. If you aren't already, I would recommend seeing a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon that has knowledge of facial anatomy to avoid the complication that occurred with you. Good luck!

The effects of Botox are only about 4 months and are always temporary. Eyelid ptosis (drooping) is a very rare phenomenon and is related to the Botox spreading to the levator muscle of the eyelid. More commonly, the forehead muscle (frontalis) is injected with too much Botox or improperly and this leads to eyebrow ptosis. Sometimes this problem can be improved with supplemental injections in the brow area.
