Nonsurgical options for lower abdomen? Will Emsculpt work? (photos)

Question

I have 3 kids and have developed a slight bulge in my lower abdomen that will not go away with diet and exercise. I have a fear of surgery so I have been looking into non surgical options. Emsculpt was recommended. But will it really work for this? I hate to go to multiple offices for consultations as I just don’t have the time for that.

Hi Swimmom,EmSculpt will build your abdominal muscles and decrease your abdominal fat bulge.  It also helps to bring the abdominal muscle gap that occurs after pregnancy (diastasis recti) closer together.  It appears that you are a very good candidate for EmSculpt treatment.  If your fat bulge does not decrease enough then a session or two of CoolSculpting may be added.  Good luck and be well.Dr. P

Thank you for your question! Based on your pictures, it appears that Emsculpt would be a great option for you! However, for the best results, you may also want to consider Coolsculpting for your lower abdomen. Coolsculpting is a non surgical procedure for fat reduction. It targets the subcutaneous (pinchable) layer of fat. Once the fat is reduced, Emsculpt will smooth out any remaining fat and build your muscles! However, you should go for an in person consultation to make sure that you are the proper candidate for these procedures, and to set up the best treatment plan. Thanks again!

Hi There,Thank you for your question and pictures. Based on what can be seen it does appear that you may be a good candidate for EmSculpt. On average patients experience a 16% increase in muscle and a 19% decrease in fat. However you really do need to consult with a local physician in person to determine if this is the best treatment to help you reach your goals. Thank you for your questions and pictures. You seem to be an appropriate candidate for either EMSculpt or CoolSculpting to reduce your abdominal fat. EMSculpt with give a more diffuse improvement. We have been seeing consistent results with about a 19-20% reduction in fat and 15% increase in muscle tone. CoolSculpting will reduce localized pockets of fat and you can expect about a 20% reduction per treatment. These are the 2 best non-surgical options in my opinion. Sculpsure results are inconsistent and discomfort is more than EMSculpt and the newer CoolSculpting applicators. More important than the device is the physician operating it. Make sure you see an experienced physician who has multiple treatment modalities for an in-person consultation and examination. Best wishes.

If you have small problem areas you can use non invasive methods like Coolsculpting with Vanquish or trusculpt iD to get small areas of fat reduced. Skin also tightens if you combine this with Exilis Ultra, Venus Legacy, and Inmode Forma/Contoura radiofrequency treatments. You boost the results from Coolsculpting if you add in Kybella injections to melt fat as well.  We often combine Coolsculpting with shock therapy like ZWave, EVIVE, and Cellutone to get even faster results, more improvement, and less risk of combinations like nodules, swelling, neuropathy or paradoxical hyperplasia. Coolsculpting often takes a few treatments separated 8 to 12 weeks apart to get significant improvement.   However, to get the most fat removal, contouring, skin tightening and definition, a VASER HI-DEF liposuction / liposculpture procedure with ThermiRF, Renuvion (J-Plasma), InMode BodyTite and fat grafting is your best bet. Emsculpt is not reliable for fat reduction. I do not have it, but I am not biased because I don’t. I have seen several patients with no results from other providers. I have fixed the problem with Smart Lipo under local anesthesia. You actually see the fat that is removed rather than doing an external treatment and hope the fat goes away. Remember if sound too good be true...

If you are looking to get rid of that focal collection of fat then EMSculpt will not be the best option. Coolsculpting will be a much better solution for that. Please contact a qualified provider or a board certified physician with extensive experience in these procedures.

Judging from your pictures you appear to be quite fit, which actually makes you a great candidate for nonsurgical bodysculpting.  Emsculpt will add to and further define your abdominal muscles, and also reduce the fat surrounding them by increasing the metabolic breakdown of the fat cells.  It does take longer to see the rat reduction than the muscle building.  You may also want to look into Coolsculpting  to focally treat the lower abdomen.  Combination of the two treatments should work even better.
