What if it takes longer than 2 weeks to complete 4 sessions?

The studies of EMSculpt are contingent on a short term 2 week high intensity activation phase followed by potential repeat therapy several weeks post treatment.While theoretically, the delay should not necessarily compromise the gains, the delay is not standard of care as per the treatment protocols.As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).Donovan Rosas MD

The protocol is 4 sessions within 2 weeks. However, the way I think about this is that these sessions are intense workouts - 20,000 crunches. So, I can't think that spacing out your workouts a little is going to compromise your results. However, there are no studies to back up this assumption. Good luck!

Hi asaini,The studies on Emsculpt were done with patients having 4 sessions a few days apart over a 2 week period.  We do not have enough information to tell you whether your delay in treatment sessions will affect your ultimate outcome.  Since the delay was due to no fault of your own, It would be reasonable to ask your provider to give you a standard series of treatments.  Since the machine was down, the company should be able to reimburse the physician the cost of running the machine.  Good luck and be well.Dr. PEncino, CA

Most likely not, because optimal results are achieved when the sessions are held back to back with small intervals. Make sure you contact a board-certified physician or other experienced practitioners for safe and effective results.

All that is known for sure is that treatments performed with a 2-3 day break in clinical trials yielded good results.  However, anecdotally, there are clinics that are performing treatments once a week over 4 weeks, and are able to purportedly achieve equally good results.  Only time and experience in the medical community will tell how well "non-optimal" treatment schedules will work.  It is reasonable to believe that 2 weeks is probably the longest break you would want to take between treatment sessions, but there are no studies on this at this point. 

Hi, thank you for your question.The results that the studies of Emsculpt have proven to give patients is through consecutive treatments as you are already aware. Since there aren't any studies that have delays in between the 4 sessions, its very difficult to say if you will receive the optimal results. I would suggest speaking with your provider about providing you another 2 sessions after your next 2 scheduled ones due to technical issues and rescheduling.
