I recently had a mommy makeover, lipoabdominoplasty and breast lift. I also had liposuction to my lower back, hips and upper arms. Original weight was 155lbs. I am 5'6" and 42 years old. In total 10.4lbs of fat and skin were removed. It seems 10.4 lbs was a great deal to remove. The PS nurse shared with approximately 7.5lbs were removed the rest was skin. Was 7.5lbs too much? Is this a normal, healthy, average amount to remove? I was required to have an overnight stay at the surgical center.

Answer: Fat removed I am not sure what the question is? If your appearance is as expected after surgery then the amount of tissue removed is appropriate. As long as you look and feel well there should not be an issue with the amount removed. That being said it is normal to have you stay overnight after a big procedure, regardless of the amount of tissue resected. If you are concerned that somehow too much has been taken please discuss with your surgeon why they removed as much has they did.

Answer: Depends on the person! Thanks for your question! As noted in other answers it varies between people. There's not really a standard chart of BMI (height/weight) to removable tissue. Since everyBODY is built so differently, some people can more easily 'lose' tissue from an area than others. It sounds like your surgeon was able to take you from an overweight BMI to a normal BMI but BMI doesn't always accurately reflect what is and isn't healthy. Keep tabs on how you feel and give your result some time to develop. Best of luck!
