I am 39 years old 5‘,6“ tall and 145 pounds. I have one child who was born via C-section and was 10 pounds. I had thre consultations with three plastic surgeons and I am still second-guessin if I have enough skin for a full tummy tuck (instead of a umbilical float or a mini which I’m not interested in). I think I need full TT (understanding I may require a small vertical incision). The pictures provided are from the morning to evening. By 1 PM I generally look like I’m pregnant. Thoughts?

Answer: Tummy tuck for patient with only modest excess skin? Hello, occasionally I will do a full tummy tuck on a patient who only has moderate skin laxity, if they have high expectations for the degree of skin tightening that can be achieved, and/or they require a full rectus muscle plication to improve their bulging contour. As you have already stated, this might necessitate having a vertical scar above the pubic mound, but for some patients this is a worthwhile tradeoff. You have already had three in-person consults and it seems like you're already informed about the different options and their pros/cons.

Answer: Do I have enough skin for a full tummy tuck? Without examining you it is difficult to be certain but based on the photos it looks like you do have enough skin to remove during a tummy tuck. I am curious as to why you are opposed to a floating abdominoplasty if that's appropriate as its the best way to avoid a scar on your belly button, which to be honest, is something most surgeons make a complete mess of. A mini tummy tuck doesn't allow for muscle tightening above the belly button, so if you're looking like you're pregnant by the afternoon then this wouldn't be a good option because it sounds like you definitely need your muscles tightened. If you aren't satisfied with the consults you've had then I would suggest seeing more surgeons until you are comfortable. 3 consults is usually a good number, but if you didn't click with any of them then keep looking until you find the right surgeon for you!
