If it is placed through an incision inside the mouth, there is no visible scar. If your occlusion ('bite') were a concern, you would be directed toward orthognathic surgery, but that is significantly more involved.

You would benefit from either procedure but with large advancements I prefer the sliding genioplasty. In some cases, I will advance 9-10 mm via a sliding genioplasty then 6 months later add additional projection with an implant. It appears that you would benefit from a large advancement.
