Trichophytic forehead lift for 25 year old? Seems like an old procedure no one does anymore? Help?

My hairline is too far back. My brows are on my brow bone, but way to close to my eyes. I want this done in LA or OC, preferably OC. Who can perform this for me? Please view my other posts for pics.

Thank you for your question. Most often a brow lift is done as an endoscopic procedure, which is preferred when possible, because it has a quicker recovery time and is generally less invasive. I suggest that you move forward and consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon.

The issues you describe, which include low set brows and a higher hairline are ideal indications for a Trichophytic brow lift.  I think that you may be confused about brow lifts and may be referring to the coronal approach when describing a technique that is used less now than in the past.  The coronal approach raises the hairline as the incision is placed at the between the hairline and the vertex of the scalp.  The Trichophytic approach remains a very relevant approach for hairline lowering and brow elevation in the face of a higher hairline.

We have done more than one thousand of these since we developed this procedure. I have never been asked to revise this Incision and no patient has thought it looked not natural. There has been no issue of permanent numbness behind it except for a rare small patch at the top of the head. I ask my preop consults to see a patient who I have done before proceeding with this and I encourage patients to get other opinions. When done well I still feel this is the gold standard for the patient with a high hairline. We did this live at the 2016 Facial Plastic Surgery meeting in Beverly Hills and continue teaching it as we have done for almost 40 years.

At 25, your forehead skin may not have enough movement to warrant a browlift. A thorough exam is needed. Treatment may be as simple as adding some volume under your brow. Seek several opinions. The trichophytic incision is very effective for brow lifting. But it’s only one technique. There are several. I wish you the best in finding the right surgeon for you.

Even the best trichophytic beveled incision that allows the hair to grow through the incision line looks wrong, especially for a 25 year old.  The surgery will cause the hair line to compress and it will look abnormal.  Perhaps cognitive dissonance will convince you that it is okay.  Perhaps not.  On top of that, you will have permanent numbness behind the incision.  I have viewed you photos, you don't need this disfiguring surgery.  As yourself if you have a history of childhood emotional abuse that makes you seek potentially harmful cosmetic surgery that you don't need.  Psychological insight is potentially very helpful to that you understand your motivation to have surgeries that you don't need.

If your forehead is high and the brows are low then a forehead reduction with browlift may be a good procedure for you. The only way to find out if you are a candidate is through a consultation. I have done many many forehead reductions and there are a lot of littl nuisances so make sure you consult an expert. Hope that helps. Best wishes.

The best forehead lift technique for you depends on your hairline location. If you want to maintain or lower your hairline position the Irregular Trichophytic Hairline Incision technique I described many years ago is still the best approach; all other procedures will raise the hairline. I frequently have other surgeons learning the technique come to my surgery center to observe.

The type of brow lift you need will depend on your skin elasticity, shape of your skull, your hairline and of course your needs. If you have a large forehead, a hairline scar may be the best procedure for you but there are other options as well. See a board certified plastic surgeon who does only aesthetic surgery for your best options.
