Do surgeons cut through veins?

Thanks for your question.  Yes, surgeons will cut through some blood vessels during a surgery.  The bleeding is stopped usually by either tying off the blood vessels or coagulating them with cautery.  For vascular and microvascular surgeries, different blood vessels are actually intentionally cut and then reattached or sutured to other blood vessels.  Hope this helps…best of luck!
