I'm wondering how long it takes to see full results after a transconjunctival lower blepharoplasty. At what point can it be determined whether the lingering puffiness in the lower lids is swelling or residual fat?

Answer: How long to see final result from lower blepharoplasty? It can take as long as 6-12 months for all of the healing to occur after a lower blepharoplasty, but I would say in most cases, the swelling has resolved by 6 months. I would wait at least 6 months after the surgery before considering any revision procedure to deal with residual fat.

Answer: Final outcome lower eyelid surgery In short, it can take quite some time. Usually minor changes are common out to 3 months and can still occur out to 12 months. Allergies, underlying eye or overall health problems (e.g.thyroid eye disease, heart failure) tend to cause prolonged swelling issues. There are two questions I usually ask: (1) are you seeing fluctuations? and (2) is it getting better? Normally, our lower eyelids are more swollen in the morning. This goes down through-out the day. If no changes are occurring beyond three months or so, then that is likely the final result (again this depends on what you had done exactly - there are different lower eyelid surgery techniques). I will rarely re-operate before 6 months as earlier intervention can cause prolonged post-operative swelling after the second procedure. Injections of steroids to the area can also help determine if it is more of a swelling issue. As we commonly recommend, evaluation by your surgeon and/or a second opinion from a person experienced in lower eyelid surgery is likely to be most helpful in addrwssing your particular concerns.
