Hi, my chin and jaw appear to be shrinking. I am 34 years old. I have submitted photos from 3 years ago and photos from today. Someone who hadn’t seen me in a while pointed out the change. What has caused this and how can I fix it? Is it fat loss? Invisalign? Bone loss? What are my none surgical options? Can I be restored to what I was?
Answer: Chin augmentation Dear Elle2127, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Generally speaking this can be improved with dermal fillers. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Chin appears to be shrinking and receding A full set of photographs of the entire face, especially the side profile are going to be required to make a determination about how best to proceed. When there's a recessive chin profile present, consider placement of a chin implant which can be performed under local or general anesthesia. In our practice, we use Implantech brand of solid silicone chin implants placed through a submental approach under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure.

Answer: The Shrinking Chin There are conditions were soft tissues shrink and adults over time. Often on one side of the face. This is not what you have. You were born with a recessive chin and this will start showing prematurely because you are prone to having a double chin and lack of job definition because of your mandible shape and size. There are conditions where soft tissues shrink and adults over time. Often on one side of the face. This is not what you have. You were born with a recessive shin and this will start showing prematurely because you are prone to having a double chin and lack of Josh definition because of your mandible shape and size. at the same time your chin is somewhat pointed which eliminates Chin augmentation as a good option.Fat removal is probably your best option. Liposuction is the gold standard and I would highly recommend choosing that over the two other options that are really inferior(Kybella cool sculpting)The pictures are insufficient to make a proper assessment.Best, Mats Hagstrom,MD

Answer: Shrinking Chin Dear Elle, You may be seeing some loss of the soft tissue of the chin however an in office examination is needed to determine the best course of action. Some fillers in the chin may be an option and possibly combine that with some sub-mental liposuction for further jawline definition. Seek some consultations with experts in the field and have imaging performed to show you the proposed results. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.
