Will sliding genioplasty be the best option to fix my jawline and chin? (Photo)

The advantages of a sliding genioplasty include the fact that vertical height can be increased and a significant horizontal advancement can be achieved. To improve the jawline, simultaneous neck and jawline liposuction can be performed. We perform this procedure in the office with intravenous sedation. I personally feel that genioplasty provides a more natural result and I perform both procedures. There are cases where I prefer a chin implant (usually small advancements). 

Both a chin implant and sliding genioplasty are chin procedures only and will not improve the jawline behind it. That will require jaw angle implants. Whether an implant or a sliding genioplasty is better for you depends on what type of change you want in the frontal view. A chin implant will widen the chin while the sliding genioplasty will tend to narrow it a bit. That being said what you need is computer imaging to determine the type of chin/jawline changes you desire. One side view picture by itself is insufficient information to make an informed decision.

Much more information is needed to make that decision. A sliding genioplasty is usually performed by an oral surgeon under general anesthesia in a hospital setting with an overnight stay. The procedure is much more invasive, and is usually performed when the teeth are significantly out alignment. Placement of a chin implant can be performed under local anesthesia which takes approximately 30 minutes.
