Is this necrosis from lip filler injections? (Photos)

Question

I got my lips done 4 days ago with 1ml. My top lip seems to have 2 balls either side fromtge centre and the top middle lip is starting to split and it hurts. Top lip is biggerthan bottom. Bruises & more bruising as time goes on, lips are looking worse as and don't feel right. Hurts to eat, drink, smile or talk without feeling like my lips are going to split open with pressure. Is this necrosis. My lips have been shedding loads, looks like a milder version of exfoliative cheilitis. Very worried

Bruising is very common in filler application... There are very small vessels that a surgeon cannot predict to be there and with the injection and product application can be damaged. In the lip there is a rich capillary network... The lip is a well irrigated anatomic unit, thus bruising is more likely. Based on the images its just bruising, necrosis is less likely and very rare in the lip. Please be patient and wait at least 2 week until inflammation and bruising are resolved to see the definite result. Thank you very much, hope this help you on your question

This doesn't look like a vascular occlusion, But i would follow up with your injector at the 2 week mark as it may be some bumps due to overfill of the product. To help with the bruising consider taking some arnica pills or eating a pineapple(the bromelain in it helps with bruising). Also avoid any alcohol, omegas or advil, as these agents will prolong bruising

This does seem to be significant bruising coupled with superficial injection of filler. I would contact your surgeon for assessment so he/she can examine the area appropriately. Bruising of this extent is rare now we use cannulas in this area.

Sorry to hear that you’re having an uncomfortable experience with your injections. Because the lips are such a sensitive area, they can be prone to significant bruising, which is what it appears you’re currently going through. Everyone’s body reacts differently to these types of treatments, which is why some people experience much more bruising and discomfort than others. If you’re concerned about your side effects, though, I would suggest making an appointment with your cosmetic surgeon or injector just to rule out any more serious complications. Based on your photos and description, this looks and sounds like severe bruising, not necrosis. The lips are particularly sensitive. Try taking arnica. It may help you heal faster but you can expect to be swollen for at least 2 weeks.

Thank you for your question and for sharing your photographs.  Based on your photos, you appear to have significant bruising.  Based on your narrative and photos, this does not appear to be necrosis.  Please keep in mind that it will take 2 weeks to allow for swelling and bruising to fully resolve and to see your final result.  The more extensive the bruising, the longer it may take to fully resolve.  Please be sure to contact your injector and let him or her know of your concerns.  Hope this helps and best wishes!

Let me start by let me start by saying that you don't have necrosis. You simply have a case of bruising which is common in some individuals. Try moist, warm compresses on your lips 4 to 6 times a day as in a wet, hoy towel. I'm sure you'll see a great deal of improvement over the next week. Good luck from New York City

Its 4 days, this is bruising and will take a week or so to fully subside. Necrosis usually presents within 24 hours, and you will be in alot of pain. Additionally ulceration and tissue compromise will be seen at day 4, and this is not the case in the photos. Bruising is very common with lip fillers, and swelling is universal.
