Is this vascular occlusion or bruising from Juvederm? (Photos)

Question

I had my lips injected with juvederm 4 days ago and on day 2 I developed a small bruise above my top lip. I am worried that it could be a vascular occlusion. I don't have any pain. I went back to check with my injector who brought the doctor in and they didn't seem too worried but said to keep and eye on it. Should I be worried?

I agree with your injector, as the area appears to resemble a bruise.  I suggest giving the area some time to resolve (such as 1-2 weeks) then following-up with your board certified plastic surgeon.  Good luck!

Thank you for your question and for sharing your photographs.  Based on your narrative and photos, this appears to be postprocedure bruising.  Please keep in mind that it will take 2 weeks to allow for normal postprocedure swelling and bruising to fully resolve and to see your final result.  Hope this helps and best wishes!

Since your doctor has examined you in person, he or she knows best but I would tend to agree that this sounds like a bruise. Not vascular occlusion which is typically painful and immediate.

Thank you for your question. I tend to agree with your injector - if this were vascular occlusion, you would likely have pain, and the discoloration would have been somewhat immediate. This seems to be simple bruising that should resolve over the next couple of days. Continue to keep an eye on things, and follow up with your injector to ensure that you continue to improve.
