Best exercises prior to breast reduction?

Question

I have been told that I need to lose weight before my breast reduction surgery, but am unsure where to start. I am an otherwise healthy 20 year old, and my bra size is 12GG (I think that's 34H U.S.?). I have always been a fit person, but in the past year I have been unable to regularly exercise and have therefore gained some weight in my belly area.

The irony is that most breast reduction patients lose additional weight after their operation. This is because they find exercise much easier with the weight of the breasts out of the way. For now I would choose in aerobic exercise and watch your diet. If you find this to be frustrating I wouldn't necessarily postpone the operation..

Patients in my practice are always advised to maintain a healthy diet and exercise plan leading up to surgery to ensure optimum recovery and results.  That said, for some patients, exercise can be challenging which is why they are undergoing surgery to help alleviate symptoms such as back pain which inhibit their ability to exercise.  Gentle walking is a good place to start or seek the advice of a personal trainer who can tailor an exercise plan specifically for you.

A healthy diet/exercise program will certainly be in your best interests. You will likely benefit from in-person evaluation by a nutritionist and/or personal trainer.  Hopefully, they will be able to tailor a program that will match your specific needs etc. Best wishes.
