I have not seen that multiple treatments of tear troughs with Restylane, Belotero, Volbella or Juvederm have caused any problem with scar tissue, nor have I heard from any colleagues that they limit the number of treatments in the tear troughs.

Hello, Thank you for your question. Perhaps he was discussing a specific product. Having filler under the eyes can be done as much as necessary. You shouldn’t have any problems with this treatment as long as it’s performed by an experienced physician when needed. Good luck!

Hyaluronic acid fillers do not cause scarring. Filler injections can be repeated as many times as you want without worry.

What you have, allegedly, been told is incorrect. 
I should add that tear trough-correction is frequently more than simple volumization of the tear trough itself - the treating physician needs to understand why the depression has evolved. On the one hand, you must be wary of over-correction (or even 100% correction) with hygroscopic fillers, and on the other extreme, surgical excision of the fat pads under the eyes may not be what is needed at that stage. 
In my opinion, a combination of Restylane Lyft (formerly known as Restylane Perlane) and Belotero Balance (formerly known as Esthélis) are good for this area. I would absolutely 'NOT' use any of Allergan's Vycross fillers (esp. Volbella) around the eyes. 
To conclude, there is no limit to the number of episodes of treatment of tear troughs with hyaluronate-based fillers, but I counsel you to go to a doctor who has experience in this area.

Having dermal hyaluronic dermal fillers placed in the tear troughs should not cause scarring.  Dermal fillers in this area can be repeated as often as necessary.

Under Eye Fillers cause neo-collagenisis and not scarring. I have repeated under eye fillers on a yearly basis on many patients with fabulous results.  I would not be worried about having it done by an experienced injector.  Best, Dr. Green

You are smart to ask other professionals to get more realistic feedback. I am not aware of any limitations to frequency of tear-trough filler treatments. If your injector directs you to some article or research that says otherwise please post it for all of us to see and learn.
In meantime keep in mind that its important to not overtreat by getting it done too close together. I like my patients to wait till most of it has been absorbed.

Dear honeyk15:Repeated treatments with filler do not cause scarring. There is some induction of native collagen production with fillers, which is a good thing, and not the same as scarring. One can have as many treatments as needed without concern for scarring.All the best,   Dr. Clark
