Emsculpt muscle spasms? Could this be a side effect?

I recently had two emsculpt treatments to my abdominal area. I’m already fit and have a BMI around 21. The procedure was very uncomfortable and sort of painful at times because of such such contractions. A couple days after my second treatment I noticed very frequent, small muscle spasms in my legs. Could this be a side effect? Will this issue resolve?

Hi Nevans,Fortunately EmSculpt is a very effective and safe treatment.  I have not heard of delayed muscle contractions or spasms of leg muscles after EmSculpt treatment.  It is possible that you may be experiencing a very rare unreported side effect or it may just be coincidental.  The issue should resolve on its own.  Definitely share your symptoms with your physician who is treating you.  Let us know how you are doing.  Good luck and be well.Dr. PEncino, CA

Delayed muscle spasms, especially those on a different area are unheard of. That may be due to some other causes. Consult with your doctor about this to get a complete assessment.

Thanks for your question. It would not be uncommon to have some muscle spasm/contraction after the treatments. I've experienced a little of that myself, actually. They became less and less over a few week time. Hang in there. It really works! Best wishes
