Thank you for your question. It is possible to have swollen lymph nodes after surgery as there is some healing and inflammation after all types of surgery.Normal lymph nodes can also be more easily palpated after the liposuction that we often performed with facelift and necklift procedures. You could also be feeling internal deeper stitches. That being said, it could also be a sign of infection (throat or skin) and I would quickly visit your plastic surgeon for an assessment and reassurance.Best of luck,Dr. Marc DuPere, Toronto plastic surgeon
Swollen lymph nodes can be due to many different things. It is important to have it evaluated by your surgeon to see if it warrants a referral to another specialty or if it is normal postoperative swelling that you are mistaking for a lymph node. Your surgeon should be made aware of any type off swelling which concerns you when you notice it. Unfortunately, without a good history and in-person examination, an accurate recommendation and diagnosis cannot be made.
Hello Ludmilaag,In the immediate post operative period there may be some reactive swelling of the lymph nodes. Usually this can not be felt because of the swelling from surgery. If you are referring to the submandibular glands (a large spit gland) which is below the jaw on both sides, these may be more noticeable in some people after a facelift. The reason is the glands can fall or sag with time. If not recognized before surgery, once the surrounding tissue is lifted, the glands can be more noticeable. This would not have affected the neck lift or lower face lift, but knowing about it ahead of time can prevent worry after the procedure if they become visible. There are surgeries that can remove those glands but they are not usually recommended for cosmetic purposes. The other reason lymph nodes can swell is because of an infection. To make sure this is not happening, you should be evaluated by your surgeon. I hope this helps and good luck.
There are many reasons for having enlarged lymph nodes and postop after a facelift is potentially one of these. Best to be examined by your PS and be investigated and treated accordingly. This may be part of the normal healing process.
Thank you for your question. After surgery you will be swollen and sometimes berried sutures, that tighten your muscles, may feel like lymph nodes. I recommend you talking to your plastic surgeon. I hope this helps you.
Dear Ludmilaag,Swollen lymph nodes could happen after any surgery, and because they are easily palpable in your neck I would not be surprised if you could feel something. That being said it is safest to get a quick confirmation exam from your surgeon to be sure there is nothing else going on and everything feels as expected.Best of luck!
Lymph node swelling is not typically a concern in the recovering facelift/necklift patient. It would be helpful for you to discuss your concern with your surgeon as your surgeon knows 1) the details of the procedure performed 2) the time frame 3) the nature of your swelling and concern.Best of luck!
You have not provided photos in order to evaluate better your concern. Please post some pictures. You also did not provided any idea on the post-op timing after your surgery. All of this information is important.Hope this helps,Dr. Gus Diaz
Your bumps will go away. Take some photos and follow along. It is therapeutic to see resolution. Massage helps. Facial massage helps. You will be fine. My Best, Dr Commons
Very sorry that you have had a complicated recovery; recovery from a hematoma is slower than baseline. Although I would take your operating Surgeon's word over any advice on the internet, I usually ask patients to wait at least 4 weeks prior to have their hair colored. However, there are ex...
You're right from the pictures it would appear that you have more of a double chin after surgery than you did before. It probably has to do with the way you were holding your neck in the photograph but I think it would be reasonable to be evaluated and be sure there's not a fluid collection in...
