Is Sculptra OK for keloid scarring people?

I have been treating patients with Sculptra for 17 years and have never seen anyone develop any sort of scarring as a result of the injection.  I would not hesitate to treat someone in the face who had a keloid scar on their body.  

Sculptra is a wonderful volumizer of the face and it works by stimulating your own cells to produce more collagen.  If you develop keloids with every kind of trauma, the risk would be that your body would overreact and produce too much collagen in response to Sculptra. Many people who have surgery near a large joint may develop thick hypertrophic scars. This is not a true “keloid”, as it stays confined to the actual incision line. You are probably not a true keloid former. However, if you develop large keloids from ear piercing or deep acne or large deforming keloids, it would probably not be worth the risk and another filler could be chosen. A careful history and physical performed by your dermatologist will help make this clear. I recommend that you call your dermatologist to help clarify the issue before proceeding.

Agree with all the plastics and dermatologist on this board. I have use this for over 7 years and have not seen any adverse effects in patients with keloids. If in doubt, your specialist can perform a hyper dilution as a test. All the best, Dr Davin Lim. brisbane skin specialist.
