Could blindness occur after fillers?

Hi and thanks for your question. You will not have vision loss from your injections. Vision loss is an extraordinarily rare, but devastating side effect of filler injections that happens immediately during the injection session. I tell patients to think of vision loss as a plane crash. We know that, statistically, a plane can crash, but we fly anyway knowing that the risks are so small because we have a trained and experienced pilot in the cockpit. With injections, you have to make sure that you have an experienced and careful practitioner, whether they are a doctor of any specialty or a nurse, and your risks will be minimized. Hope that helps!

Blindness occurring due to injecting dermal filler is extremely rare and if it were to happen effects would be immediate. A small amount of bruising/swelling is completely normal and should subside within a week. To minimise any risk of side effects it is always important to find a highly trained and experienced practitioner.

While this is possible, it is extremely rare. At this point, you aren't at risk for developing blindness. It will take 1-2 weeks for final results. Hope this helps.

Thank you for sharing your excellent question.  Though possible, the chance of blindness would develop rapidly after treatment and typically involves injections in and around the eyes, not the cheek or chin.  Hope this helps.

Blindness is a very rare complication from facial fillers and should not occur unless the material is injected too deeply and at specific locations.  The chin is not one of the higher risk areas.

Unfortunately blindness is one of those very rare but severe potential complications from fillers. If it does occur, it occurs during a treatment where the material is injected into a blood vessel that works its way up and into the eye. There are a few cases where the blindness was not permanent as it was treated immediately, but in every other case in which it happened, it was permanent. 

Blindness is extremely rare with filler injections.  Complications would be noticed immediately.  The small bruises you mentioned are typical from the treatment.  You can rest easy and enjoy your results.

You have absolutely nothing to worry about at this point in time. If fillers cause blindness, it is usually immediate up on and during the treatment. Good luck from New York City
