Excellent question. I advise patients to boost collagen formation before and after Ulthera and would advise you to begin Retin A, RR Complex, Melarase creams around the treatment. Raffy Karamanoukian, Los Angeles
Ultherapy tightens deeper facial tissues such as the connective tissue, SMAS, and the dermis by making the connective tissue contract and producing more collagen in the derms. Retinoids, although affecting the dermis, by stimulating more collagen production, does not interfere with the use of Ultherapy, in fact, it can be helpful. Ulthera uses microfucused ultrasound that targets a deeper layer than skin products applied externally so there shoud be no reason ot to resume using them within a day or two. Another product we recommend after Ultherapy is TNS from SkinMedica.
I recommend the use of retinoids in the form of Retinoid Repair cream before and after Ultherapy. RR Retinoid Repair Cream from Kare Skin is a great product.
It is fine to use retinoids when having Ultherapy treatment. You can continue your regular daily routine. Ultherapy works with focused ultrasound in the layers deep under the skin to create tightening. Therefore, topical treatment for your regular skin maintenance is fine.

Pain thresholds differ greatly in patients so that the pain received from heat generated in the dermis and connective tissue from Ultherapy will feel very different in each individual. Yet, the dermal and connective tissues from person to person are similar so the absorption of energy should be...
There are two components responsible for facial lifting after Ultherapy. One is the contraction of the SMAS connective tissue layer. This is an immediate effect. Once it contracts, it tightens and in turn, lifts the facial features that have sagged over time. The other component is the...
I can not comment on your condition as I am not examining you. I am only aware of rare cases in which there are welts, especially after use of the 1.5 mm. shallow transducer. Typically these fade in hours after treatment. Round blisters are not expected and could be caused by multiple different...
There are many variables when doing chemical peels. There are superficial (very superficial or superficial), medium and deep chemical peels (the latter are rarely done these days). Depending on which peel a patient has, the amount of exfoliation or epidermal loss can be significantly different...
