I’ve heard lasers are not safe on Hispanic skin, but have read that PicoSure could be a safe option.
Answer: Picosure is safe for all skin types! You are partially correct, some lasers will cause hyperpigmentation in people with darker skin. I practice in Hawaii, where there are a lot of people with darker skin - Hispanics, Asians, Pacific Islanders etc, and that is why I chose PicoSure because it IS safe for all skin types. I have never had any of my patients develop hyperpigmentation following a PicoSure treatment, and that is also why it is the #1 laser used in Asia for treating the skin!

Answer: Treating Freckles / Sun Damage / Age Spots on Darker Skin Thank you for your question. Hyperpigmentation is something we see and treat every day in our practice. We have been very successful using the PicoSure laser with the FOCUS and / or Flat Lenses with a series of treatments. FOCUS lens treatments have the extra benefit of reducing fine lines and wrinkles. PicoSure has almost no downtime. This is one of our go to treatments for patients older than 40 and worried about the signs of aging. This laser is safe for all skin types. Start with sunscreen every day! Once you have treated your hyperpigmentation to your satisfaction, you will probably need a follow treatment every 6 to 12 months depending your level of re-pigmentation. Best of luck.

Answer: Picosure is great for Hispanic or Asian skin The Picosure laser fries 1,000 times faster than any other laser. This means less inflammation and therefore less risk of hyper-pigmentation. I would strongly recommend that you pre-treat your face with 4-8% HQ before starting the Picosure laser treatments. you must use a good sunblock and you cannot treat your face if it is tanned. You should plan at least 3 sessions, each spaced a month apart. My own wife had a lot of hyperpigmentation on her face and got a great result with the Picosure laser. She needed 4 sessions. After your series of Picosure laser sessions are finished, you will need to always use a good sunblock on your face. You should expect to want to do a single session every 6-12 months to maintain your results.david berman md
