Is it safe to do activities post PicoSure laser treatment? What is the likelihood of treatment failure? (photos)

Question

1) I went to the gym 2 hours after treatment. Occasionally ‘bump’ or accidentally rubbed treated area while wiping sweat from face. 2) Treated area is pink and smooth. Does not feel like the skin will crust and flake off. 3) Treatment was done 18 hours ago. (1 large/1 small as seen in photo) Is KTP laser a better option?

It is safe to do activities after your PicoSure laser treatment. I recommend staying out of the sun until you are completely healed.  If you do plan to be outside, please use a broad-spectrum spf and reapply every 2 hours. If you are going to be in the gym, use care when wiping your face, and avoid aggressive exercise until all sensitivity has subsided.  The downtime for PicoSure treatments varies, but can last for up to 3 weeks.  I suggest waiting the full 21-day period so you can evaluate the appropriate final result.  If you still have any concerns at that time, I recommend scheduling a consultation with a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist who will provide a formal assessment. In my practice, we have over 45 lasers that we use, sometimes in combination, to customize treatment plans for each of our patients.

Thanks for your question and posting pictures.  You should never exercise/raise your body temperature/hot tub after ANY laser treatment.  Your injury will likely heal without any scarring.  It's up to you and your local providers as far as which treatment is best for you.  We don't know why you are being treated.  Best of luck.

by the next day, if you are not red, you can do anything you want. i would not do a laser session and then go and do a tough cardio work out so that you sweat all over the areas that were just lasered. if you are treating the mole on your face, i don't think any laser will work, since the pigmentation will be all the way through your skin. the Picosure laser is great for hyper-pigmentation and melasma. It is also very helpful for fine lines and acne scarring etc. it cannot remove moles.david berman md
