To my knowledge, open rhinoplasty would not be expected to affect a patient's vitiligo. Be sure to discuss your goals and concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and consider the pros and the cons. Be certain your surgeon is properly certified. I've attached a link where you can start your search.
Hello and thank you for your question. Thebest advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. Vitiligo is usually not worsened by rhinoplasty. Make sure you specifically lookat before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgeryperformed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The mostimportant aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommendthat you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon whocan evaluate you in person.Best wishes and good luck.Richard G. Reish, M.D.Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
Rhinoplasty, open or closed, should not exacerbate an autoimmune skin disorder either way. Inflammatory disorders, like acne or rosacea, may have temporary flare up but no permanent issues.
Hello and thank you for your question. Regardless of the approach used- open or closed, rhinoplasty really shouldn't exacerbate your vitiligo. I would suggest you speak to your rheumatologist who treats you for the vitiligo and be certain that no sort of facial trauma can exacerbate the vitiligo (which I can't imagine that it would). If the rheumatologist clears you, then again, open or closed approach will not matter. Hope this helps!
A closed rhinoplasty approach can completely avoid the external incision, therefore not exacerbate your vitiligo.
Adderal is fine after surgery. Snorting anything after a septorhinoplasty is not good and will result in tissue damage.
The first week you are usually bruised, swollen, and have splints. The second week you may be prone to swelling, pain, and worse case a bad nose bleed. Once you get to the third week, this kind of exertion will not have any deleterious effects.
Radix height is best evaluated from the profile view; not the frontal view. In men, the radix ideally sits at or above the lid crease. 5 1/2 weeks is quite early to judge the result. Whenever the radix is altered it tends to hold swelling longer.
