Got 400cc silicone gel implans 17 days ago and my right breast is still in pain (only right not both) I am still having to take vicodin. This does not seem normal although ps says it is . . . should I ask my gyn for an MRI ? is there anything I can do to have them fall into place sooner?
Answer: Concern about your breast augmentation Everyone heals differently so I guess you can still have pain 2.5 weeks after your surgery. It is a bit unusual so you should certainly see you plastic surgeon to be examined to make sure there is nothing wrong and he/she should be able to change your pain management protocol. Call your surgeon and be seen.

Answer: Too early to worry It sounds completely normal to have breast pain only 17 days after breast augmentation. I would not think that an MRI would be necessary or useful. It will take months for them to fall into place.

Answer: Is it normal to still have pain 17 days after breast augmentation? Thank you for your question.I'm sorry to hear you have having pain that is still requiring pain medication. Hopefully the amount of pain you are having has been somewhat decreasing from the time of your surgery. Slowly improving pain is typical after surgery. Everyone heals differently and at different rates. Sometimes patients will have pain that persists to 3 weeks and then random pains until about 6 weeks. However, it is important that your operating surgeon has had the opportunity to examine you to make sure there is not a complication developing. If your operating surgeon is following you closely and has examined you recently, I would trust their judgement as they have more knowledge about your specific surgery and anatomy. If you are still concerned, I would recommend you ask your operating surgeon if there is another plastic surgeon they would recommend for a second opinion.I hope this helps. Best wishes!William J. Answer: Pain 2 1/2 weeks after breast augmentation surgery I definitely have patients with some degree of discomfort 2-3 weeks after breast augmentation surgery. It is also common to have more pain in one side. This may relate to a bit more swelling or bruising on one side. In some cases, I feel that it is even related to handedness. If the person uses their right arm more because of dominance, then they may be more sore on that side especially when the implant was placed under the muscle. I would expect the pain to progressively subside over the next 2 weeks. I frequently ask my patients to take some scheduled ibuprofen (600mg three times daily) if they are not allergic and can tolerate the medication well. This can help even out your pain without relying on narcotic pain medication. But, ask your surgeon before proceeding with that. You implants may need 6-8 weeks or so to 'drop' and settle into place. There is nothing you can do to make your skin and tissue comply faster. Just give yourself a bit more time.
