I am switching my old saline mentor moderate profile implants 325 overfilled to 350cc to silicone due to unhappiness with the feel and rippling of the saline. My doctor has ordered a high profile implant Mentor 425cc. I am VERY NERVOUS about HIGH PROFILE. I am making myself crazy. Please advise especially regarding the implant profile. I am trying to stay calm but my surgery is scheduled in just a few days. I am currently at a 34 full c/small D.
Answer: Breasts implants replacement Dear Nat, Front and side view pictures would have been very helpful. I have been in practice for over 29 years and performed breasts augmentation on thousands of patients with almost exclusively smooth, round , moderate profile saline implant made by Mentor (thin shell) . Many of the patients are mothers and daughter and sisters, which is a sign of high satisfaction with surgery. I have never converted saline implants to silicone implant , but I did replace many silicone implants with saline implants to my patients delight. So , I am not sure what is the problem with your breasts. It might be unrelated to the implants, but rather to the implants' pockets. I do not want to make you more nervous, but I hope that you consulted with , at least, few experienced board certified plastic surgeons and got their opinions. It is critical that you check your surgeon's before and after pictures in the photo gallery, to make sure that they are numerous, consistent and attractive with nice cleavage, perky, symmetrical and natural looking. All the best, Dr Widder

Answer: Nervous about switching to high profile implants from Moderate profile implants The best way to calm your nerves is to meet with your plastic surgeon again, prior to the day of surgery, to discuss your concerns, questions, and goals. Having said that, I find that I do use a lot of higher profile breast implants in my practice; for the right patient, these implants are very helpful.Generally speaking, the best online advice I can give to ladies who are considering revisionary breast augmentation surgery ( regarding breast implant size/profile selection) is: 1. Concentrate on choosing your plastic surgeon carefully. Concentrate on appropriate training, certification, and the ability of the plastic surgeon to achieve the results you are looking for. ***Ask to see lots of examples of his/her work. 2. Have a full discussion and communication regarding your desired goals with your plastic surgeon. This communication will be critical in determining breast implant size/type/profile will most likely help achieve your goals. In my practice, the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) is very helpful. For example, I have found that the use of words such as “natural or fake look” or "C or D cup” etc means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful. Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on him who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup size may also be inaccurate. Again, the use of computer imaging has been very helpful during the communication process, in our practice. 3. Once you feel you have communicated your goals clearly, allow your plastic surgeon to use his/her years of experience/judgment to choose the breast implant size/profile that will best meet your goals. Again, in my practice, this decision is usually made during surgery, after the use of temporary intraoperative sizers. I hope this (and the attached link, dedicated to revisionary breast augmentation surgery) helps. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be very pleased with.

Answer: Trust Trust in your surgeon with the change in profile. The implant selection should be based on a combination of your desired size, soft tissue dynamics, breast base diameter and skin elasticity. I recommend an in-office examination as well as a detailed discussion with a surgeon who you are comfortable with. Finally, make sure your surgeon is a Double-Board Certified Plastic Surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS) and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).Best,Dr. DesaiBeverly Hills Institute for Aesthetic Plastic SurgeryHarvard Educated, Beverly Hills & Miami Beach Trained, Double-Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Implant profile I use high profiles for patients that are narrow and want more volume. I chose the profile based upon the patient's anatomy and their goals.
