In 2021, after 16 years of living with encapsulated implants and experiencing three failed breast reconstructions and a capsulectomy, I made the decision to remove the implants altogether. This left me with deformed breasts due to the scar tissue that remained. Last year, I began seeking a second opinion and alternatives to correct my situation. One of the plastic surgeons I consulted referred me to Dr. Shamoun, saying, “He does things that no other surgeon does.” I’m so glad I chose to have a consultation with Dr. Shamoun and ultimately proceed with the surgery. He truly understands the challenges I faced and developed a thoughtful plan for my reconstructive surgery. Now, nine months post-surgery, I couldn’t be happier with the results. I never imagined I could have such beautiful, natural-looking breasts! Thank you, Dr. Shamoun, for your incredible work, and a special thanks to his team of nurses, the anesthesiologist, and Yvonne in his office for their kindness and compassion throughout my journey.
Today is Oct 10, 2024. I wrote the below review sometime in 2019, but being very tech-challenged, I just now found it in my notes & realized that I didn’t post it when I thought I had. I’ll be 72 next month & I think I’m losing it! lol Obviously, I'm late to the game with my review, but Dr. Shamoun deserves everything I have to say! I first met & chose him to perform my procedures early in 2013. I had had breast augmentation 29 years earlier…not to get bigger (I was a 32D), just wanted to be rounder. After nursing a child at 40, plus gaining & losing weight, my boobs had gotten bigger (now DD’s) & too heavy …I wanted them lifted and to return to a D cup. Everything the other reviewers have said about Dr. John Shamoun, is true! I was extremely happy with my outcome & I was not just a simple case breast augmentation case. I presented this doctor with a challenge that involved several different types of procedures (above & below the bust-line). Maybe I was looking for a miracle at 61 yrs old? lol I wasn’t requesting anything that would produce a huge change in looks and he didn’t make me feel I was being unrealistic. In fact, I didn’t seem to sway this man at all. He was up for the job & concerned that I understood it would be a long surgery. Like others have said, he knows what he’s doing & did not hesitate to make suggestions rather than waiting for me to “know the questions.” There’s no doubt that he is a gifted cosmetic artist; his results speak to that. Dr. Shamoun, doesn’t need my approval in that area, but I do want to share how impressed I am by the man as a human being! His honesty, candidness, compassion, & generosity, with regard to his time, go beyond what you’d expect from a busy & well-respected surgeon. As I said, I was very pleased the work I’d had done and, although not cheap, I felt the fees were fair - my money had been well spent! Four months after Dr Shamoun had worked on me, I had a life-threatening bowel blockage that required emergency surgery. The hospital’s surgeon did a hack job on my abdomen and left me disfigured. An incisional hernia later surfaced above the awful scar & by that point I was embarrassed to be seen w/o clothes, even by my boyfriend. There’s more…. Just 3 years after Dr Shamoun had completed his work on me, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I underwent a single mastectomy in 2017 and had the other side done in 2019. Even though the reconstruction was good work, due to the horrible job that had been done on my stomach, I felt very depressed and disfigured. I knew I couldn’t afford more cosmetic surgery at that time to “fix me,” but I at least needed to talk to someone. That’s when I showed up at Dr Shamoun’s office, unannounced, late one afternoon. I figured I would just say hello and make an appt to come back at another time. It’s times like this that you realize what kind of person is "behind the surgeon.” Dr Shamoun didn’t go home on time that day…instead, he spent over 2 hours listening, looking, making notes, and reassuring me that he could repair the mess the other doctor had made. It wasn’t about money that afternoon…he knew I couldn’t do anything then. He also understood that I needed to talk, to be reassured…and that he did. When I tried to pay for that 2+ hour consult, he refused my money. I had been a fan of Dr Shamoun’s for several years by that time, but it was that day that he became a “true human hero” in my book! And, lest I forget…Yvonne, his receptionist, who has been with him for eons is the sweetest lady you could hope to meet! She greets you like a friend, not just another patient!
Like so many people when it comes to aesthetic/elective surgery, I had contemplated getting a rhinoplasty for a while before starting the process of consultations. I did not want to get anything done if I wasn’t absolutely confident the results would be worth it or if there was a possibility I’d need to get a revision surgery/surgeries afterwards from a botched result. One of my biggest roadblocks was finding a surgeon that I was confident had the experience, expertise, and ability to give me the nose I had always dreamed of. After meeting with a few different surgeons in LA and Newport, I was feeling discouraged and didn’t feel like my final result would be guaranteed. If it was going to be done right, I didn’t want to do it at all. From the first 5 minutes of meeting with Dr. Shamoun, I knew there was no other surgeon I would and will ever let touch my face. His knowledge of aesthetics is unsurpassed. Like most people who go in for a consultation, I just wanted my nose to look “smaller and shave that big bump off the bridge!”, but Dr. Shamoun approached my face with designing a natural looking nose that fit MY face perfectly and brought out my natural features. He didn’t propose taking someone else’s nose and putting it on my face. He looked at my face, holistically, and used his expertise and experience to construct a nose that would be perfect for my existing features. He looked at the positive and what he wanted to highlight and bring out (for example my eyes, lips, cheeks). He told me exactly what he proposed to be done with my nose in a way that was much more thorough than any surgeon I had met with prior. He took his time and is one of the most friendly, personable, caring people. At the end of the visit, he took pictures and used photoshop to model what it would look like post-op. This was the first time that I was completely confident that a surgeon would follow through on their promises. Yvonne, who has been with Dr. Shamoun’s office for over 20 years, is so sweet and was so accommodating to my busy and changing schedule. The scheduling process was easy and thorough. Dr. Shamoun uses one of the nicest outpatient surgery centers and the staff during the operation process was very professional, clearly experienced, and thorough. This makes a huge difference! (Side note: the staff said if they were going to have anything done they would choose Dr. Shamoun…) I am now 2 weeks post-op and the results are even better than I ever imagined. The recovery was so much easier than I thought (YES this immensely has to do with the surgeons skill, how gentle they are, post-op instructions, etc. not all recovery for nose jobs is the same!!!). My new nose looks so natural, fitting my face perfectly, that some of my closest friends and family members can’t even tell I’ve had anything done. When I look in the mirror, I recognize myself. This review could go on forever about my positive experience with Dr. Shamoun, but to sum this up: If you are contemplating getting absolutely anything aesthetic done, book that consultation with Dr. Shamoun and you will never want to go anywhere else.
The purpose of the surgical upper lip lift was to see my upper lip (original pix from before in previous review) Now that it's more visible, I wanted to fill it and finally be able to wear lipstick or just not a ducky protruding look. Mission accomplished
From start to finish this has been the best experience I have EVER had! I had 2 previous breast surgeries from another Dr which were uneven, capsulated, rippled, hurt, put seri mesh in (that was recalled), cut into my muscle which he wasn't suppose to why I was over the muscle, and the pocket was bigger on right which the implant would flip. SO going into this I was very scared, major anxiety to find the right Dr because there was so much that had to be fixed and fixed right. The emotional stress was taking a toll on me plus the money and downtime. So I saw 7 docs in AZ and CA. A lot made it seem easy (which I knew I wasn't so lucky) others wanted to do a major lift and I was worried about scars. Finally when I met Dr Shamoun I just knew he was the one. First off he knew right away what was going on and gave me options to fix it. I loved that he was a perfectionist and takes his time, guess you could almost say he's an artist. He wants your breast to be perfectly fitted for your body. He was extremely honest but also helpful which is what i needed to help my anxiety fears from the other Dr who messed them up. I probably ask him the same questions 50 different times and he was still patient with me and answered them and made me feel so comfortable. I knew I could trust him! He measured every point and took my body type (long torso) into the consideration of breast options. Not 1 other doctor out of 7 did this but him. He made me feel important not just another breast apppointment where I was in and out. You can tell he really cares about his work and I love that he pays so much attention to detail. This is exactly what I needed why I had so many issues to fix. Also for being out of state he told me if it was to hard to travel he would refer a doctor in my area.... I was blown away that he would be so helpful like that. I loved everything about Dr Shamoun plus more! Yvonne his secretary is also amazing. Always helpful when i called and made things easy for me being out of state. I'm so extremely happy i went to Dr Shamoun. I trusted him SO much I told him to do what he thinks is best and it turned out better than I could have imagined. Plus he was so good I didn't even have to have extra scars with lift just went around the areola (which you can barely see those scars.) He was truly a god send for me. Thank you Dr S for being so Amazing! The pictures speak for themselves. Updated on 9 Aug 2020: So here’s a few details I’m 5”10 145lbs. Before when I had issues I had 2 sets of silicon gel implants that both ripples and caused problems for me. The ones in picture are natrelle 605 silicon gel implant over the muscle. (The firmest gel). Switched to 525 mentor saline implant under muscle.
Dr. Shamoun is the best plastic surgeon, anywhere! From the first moments of our initial consultation, I knew I had found the right surgeon. Dr. Shamoun understood exactly what I hoped to achieve & explained in detail what he could do to create the look I wanted. I could not be happier with the results. I experienced very little post-op discomfort & never needed any pain medication. After nearly 4 weeks since surgery, the healing has been amazing. In addition to being a brilliant surgeon, Dr. Shamoun is truly an artist. His eye for symmetry & detail is amazing! The results met or exceeded my every hope & expectation.
Dr. Shamoun was my top choice for breast augmentation. At the time of my surgery in 2012, he was the only surgeon who is quadruple certified in the country. I was referred to him by a friend, who had gone to him for a revision and loved her results. I chose 400ccs of silicone for my implants. The results were beautiful, although the recovery was as uncomfortable as expected. After my surgery, I referred to three of my family members to Dr. Shamoun. Since then, none of us have had any complaints about our surgery or its outcome.
I had an amazing experience with Dr. Shamoun and his staff. They were super nice, they took care of every detail during all the process to make me feel safe. I have no bruises after the procedure and the scars look amazing. My recovery was much faster from what I was expecting. I highly recommend him! I look super natural, the way I was expecting.
Dr. Shamoun is an outstanding surgeon, and truly and artist. I had a primary rhinoplasty at the age of 17 which was quite simply a botched job. There were areas of cartilage that were overly resected, areas that were under resected, and I was very unhappy with the end result. It wasn't until the age of 35 that I finally was able to trust someone enough to touch my nose again. I had been to consults with 3 other "top-rated" revision rhinoplasty surgeons in Beverly Hills and LA over the course of several years, and I didn't leave one of those consultations feeling like I was in good hands. I didn't have and medical records from my first rhinoplasty, which was closed, and I was warned repeatedly by doctors who essentially said, "we don't know what we're going to find when we look under the hood, so we really can't assure you of a particular result." My revision rhinoplasty, this time an open rhinoplasty, required cartilage grafts along the rim of my nostrils, and the graft was taken from my ear. My surgery with Dr. Shamoun was in March 2017, so it's been a year and four months since the procedure. I love the end result. It looks 100% natural, and even the scar in my ear is practically imperceptible. If you are nervous about this procedure, you should be. You only have a few chances with your nose, and in the wrong hands things can really go wrong. If Dr. Shamoun is your surgeon, rest assured that this man will under-promise and over-deliver. Go see him. He is a miracle worker.
Dr. Shamoun is the best doctor for plastic surgery hands down. I went to a few consultations and it was obvious the he was the most experienced and the most talented. I was a little hesitant getting a nose job in the first place because I am very picky and was afraid that it would look fake. I can't believe how unbelievably natural my nose job looks--even my friends and family were shocked about how beautiful and natural it turned out. He surpassed any expectation and I have never felt so happy and confident with myself. My recovery process was super quick and easy, I had no bruising and no complications, which was uncommon among my other friends who had gotten rhinoplasty as well. I have gotten endless compliments about my appearance from everyone around me, both from friends and strangers. If you want to get plastic surgery, the only person I would ever trust is Dr. Shamoun. He is an incredible doctor and understands the cosmetic and beauty aspects of the face as well. I am so grateful to have gone to him and could not be happier with my process/outcome!
Absolutely you should have a breast lift In my opinion your breasts will look worse if you do not have a breast lift procedure Remember there are two types of surgeons Size surgeons and shape surgeons For me shape takes the highest priority and your shape must be better . Regards Dr Shamoun
high profile silicone implants behave and look much like moderate profile saline implants UNDER the muscle You will be just slightly bigger and with less ripples If you want even less ripples switch to the soft touch inspira implant Or wait a few months for the new highly fillled mentor silicone implant new tontgw market All the best Dr Shamoun
I would remove your implants and Perform an internal lift without any external scars Your tissues should retract and shrink Wait six months to decide what type lift is best I have seen amazing retraction after removal of submuscular implants without lifting You have nothing to lose . If you had saline implants I would deflate them without surgery to assess the tissues prior to any lift You could also remove your implants under local anesthesia and wait n see How the tissues respond All the best Dr Shamoun Newport Beach California
Do yourself a favor Avoid the tuba procedure for the many reasons stated by the others. Having performed over 1000 revision surgeries I can testify to the fact that far too Many breast augmentation revisions stem from this approach . Would need to see you to judge size That best fits your body based on torso length etc
Many factors can cause anxiety after breast augmentation Especially with the ridiculous nonscientific literature that is present throughout the Internet . Be patient As I expect you will be fine because you did not go too large in size . I would give it at least 8 months before making any decisions regarding explantation. Your body will bond with the implants within two months and they will no longer feel foreign to you . My advise is to Forget about the negative information that you read and enjoy your life . Best Regards Dr Shamoun Dubai /Abu Dhabi/Newport Beach
