In two words, I'd say no chance. Insurance is not going to cover cosmetic surgery of any kind.
Thank you for your question about tummy tuck. No, Medicaid does not pay for tummy tuck or liposuction. To know your options, see two or more experienced, board-certified Plastic Surgeons in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have tummy tuck or body contouring surgery. Most reputable plastic surgeons charge a consult fee. Time and expertise have value.I hope this helps.
Insurance will only pay for procedures which are medically necessary, which tummy tuck is not. Once in a while, they might cover a procedure which will remove fat which hangs down below one's pubic area and is causing rashes, infection, and other medical issues, but even then, sometimes, not. Even more important, you mention you have problems with eating, and if this is not addressed, you will never get the result you're looking for, because it will only be temporary. I think you should visit with a nutritionist or bariatric doctor to get involved in a program designed to learn healthy lifestyles and habits. Only after you improve in that department can you focus on the secondary aspects. I wish you Luck!Dr. Subbio
Generally insurance companies pay for procedures that give functional improvement. Although there are some functional benefits to tummy tuck and liposuction, they are virtually always considered cosmetic by insurance companies. Neither of those procedures are a treatment for obesity.
Forget about anything considered "Cosmetic" as no insurance will cover this unless there is significant functional reasons like breast asymmetry (such as a congenital condition or after mastectomy for cancer). A tummy tuck will also never be covered by insurance, but occasionally a panniculectomy will. This is a term for removing only the apron of skin at the lower tummy area and only if it is very severe and causes problems like recurrent infection, rashes, etc .This procedure is done for medical indications and not for cosmetic reasons.
Thank you for your question. Without knowing more about you it is difficult to give specific advice. In general, insurance companies will not pay for cosmetic surgery including tummy tuck and liposuction procedures. It is best to control your diet and work toward achieving your ideal body weight. Cosmetic surgery is NOT the answer for losing weight. You should meet with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss what can reasonably achieved with surgical procedures. Hope this helps!
Almost all insurance providers consider these procedures as cosmetic and do not participate in their coverage. A portion of the procedure (what is called a panniculectomy) may be covered but it often does not achieve the results individuals are looking for. Further, these procedures should not be considered and weight management strategies and should be implimented once an individual is at their goal weight and stable for 3-6 months.
Thank you for your question. Insurances do not pay for tummy tucks or liposuction. These are considered cosmetic procedures and are not covered. There are financing options. I recommend seeing a board certified plastic surgeon.
Unfortunately tummy tucks and liposuction are considered cosmetic procedures. Also, please note that both are "contouring" procedures and are not for the goal of weight loss. Good luck!
Dear Mariam, Medicaid does not pay for tummy tucks and liposuction, because they are considered elective cosmetic surgery procedures. You may want to consider making an appointment with your medical doctor to address your increased appetite and help you. Best wishes, Dr. Richard Swift
