I got CoolSculpting on my chin in April - it’s been a few months now and I have these marks left from where the application was. One side is worse because the machine shut off and they have to redo it. They seem to have lightened a bit but I’m concerned they are permanent. I went back to the place I got it done and she said she’d never seen anything let this but thinks it may fade and told me to use brightening scrub for now. I have a follow up in August. Please help?
Answer: Markings after submental coolsculpting I have seen this in one client in my practice. Your treating provider should open a case with clinical support from allergan and follow along with you. We offered our client a peel and skin case that would help expedite the healing. Allergan most likely will advise that this will go away and is a rare side effect. The gel trap mark on the one side is odd for a coolsculpting cool mini so I too am not sure you had the real thing or a knock off. If coolsculpting- the provider has a rep who can assist them in reporting and getting clinical advice. Hope that helps.

Answer: Oh No! Oh my goodness. I am so sorry that this happened to you. My office does a ton of cool sculpting, and we have seen mild hyperpigmentation once or twice in the past, but I have never seen it this bad and clearly delineated. If I were treating this complication, I would be treating it aggressively with a combination of retinoic acid, hydroquinone, broadband light, and fractional resurfacing. Hopefully you are doing your cool sculpting with a board certified plastic surgeon who has access to and experience with all these treatment modalities. If you are not, please seek out somebody who is qualified to treat your complication.

Answer: Discoloration after CoolSculpting This is not a typical side effect of a CoolSculpting treatment, particularly this long after your procedure. I recommend you schedule a follow-up with your practitioner for an in-person assessment and treatment recommendations. If the device used was a CoolSculpting machine, your doctor should have a representative to advise on how to proceed next. You may have had bruising and swelling that led to hyperpigmentation in the treated area. I would recommend starting with good topical medical therapy with a skin lightener. Next, you could do some laser treatments to further help with hyperpigmentation. Through an in-person assessment, your doctor should be able to create a customized treatment plan that will address this discoloration.

Answer: Markings after CoolSculpting Treatment I have never seen those types of marks after a CoolSculpting treatment, but I suspect they represent a freeze burn or hyperpigmentation from the injury. When you said the machine shut off, it is a safety feature made to prevent this problem. If for some reason, you had a lot of bruising, the healing process can temporarily pigment in some individuals. I advise you to go back to your provider and ask to see the machine that was used for your treatment, as I have doubts it was an authentic CoolSculpting machine. As far as your marks, I recommend finding a board-certified dermatologist who can assess you in person and determine what type of treatment might work best to reduce their appearance. It may be that sunscreen, bleaching agents and “tincture of time” will result in adequate fading, like most burns. However, if they persist, laser treatment may be needed. In my practice, we offer more than 45 laser devices so we can customize treatments based on the unique needs, skin tone and aesthetic goals of each of our patients. I do not think the marking will fade completely without intervention.

Answer: Marks After CoolSculpting Treatment Are you sure you were treated with an actual CoolSculpting device and not a chinese knock off? We've done thousands of CoolSculpting treatments and have never seen this. Looks like post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. This should resolve on its own, but may take several months. At home skin lightening products, chemical peels, and lasers can help speed up the process. Make sure you are under the care of an experienced physician. Best wishes.
