Should I get my lip lift before or after my rhinoplasty since I’m getting my nostrils worked on?

Question

I am set on a lip lift (yes I know there are scarring risks w/ my skin type); it is 16mm long. I will be getting an open rhinoplasty with an alar base reduction soon, the question is: do I get the lip lift before or after the rhinoplasty (i would wait a few months in between of course)?? I don’t want the lip lift to distort the base of my nose but I also don’t want the (tip lifting) of the rhino to make the lip lift scar more obvious! (Id prefer to get it after, but is that an absolute no?)

We literally wrote the paper demonstrating that lip lift and rhinoplasty can be done at the same time, and I'm presenting at a conference next month on how to do lip lift and alar base reduction simultaneously.  If done correctly, you can do at once.

There are surgical and non-surgical approaches to lip augmentation. Non-surgical approaches include botox (slight lift, reducing gum show) and filler (volume restoration). Surgically, you can have two separate incisions under the nose (italian), one incision under the nose (bull horn), one incision at the red/white upper lip junction (gull wing) or two separate incision at the corners, or a combination, depending on your desired look and anatomy. My preferred surgical technique is called the Elelyft, which is a version of the bullhorn approach. The ideal candidate for the Elelyft, or upper lip lift, is someone with a philtral length of 13mm or longer, no upper dental show, and/or a thin upper lip. The nasal base to mouth width ratio needs to be taken into consideration to avoid leaving the lip corners down. In your situation, It is generally recommended to get the rhinoplasty procedure first and in 3 months post-op you can have the lip lift procedure. Hi thanks for your question. You can get these two procedures done at the same time, it would avoid multiple surgeries and reduce your recovery time overall. I highly recommend that you speak to your surgeon about combining the two, and make sure he/she is highly experienced in both procedures.

I recommend you do both the lip lift and rhinoplasty at the same time.  If you want to separate the procedures then I would suggest doing the rhinoplasty first and then the lip lift.
