I have a signifiant double chin when I look down. What is the best treatment for this? (photos)

Thank you for your question. While everyone has a double chin when they look down, you do not have a lot just looking forward.  Because the CoolMini uses a suction to pull the fatty area in, if you do not have enough you will not get a good seal or results. I recommend scheduling an in-person evaluation with a Board Certified Surgeon to determine which procedure would be best for you. Good luck!

EVERY human will have a double chin if they look down in the extreme and take a profile photo... Without an exam, it will not be possible to fully evaluate you and give you recommendations. 

In my opinion, there are several procedures to consider. Sculpsure, CoolSculpting, infini and kybella.  I would recommend the infini procedure because it will remove the fat as well as tighten your skin. An in-person consultation is the only way to determine if you are a good candidate for the cool mini, because the measuring tool has to be placed under the chin. If the device doesn't fit appropriately than you could choose to do Kybella as an alternative. Both are good options for fat reduction and contouring the neck/submental area.

Coolsculpting is an excellent treatment for permanently removing fat under the chin, but don’t forget about fat dissolving injections! They are both excellent options, and both have their place in my practice. There are a number of reasons to use one instead of the other. Firstly, do you have enough submental fullness to fit the CoolMini vacuum applicator? If you do not have enough, the applicator may not stay in position during the treatment, and your results may be less than optimal. Although it is difficult to tell from your photo, you may fall into this category. The benefit of CoolMini is that there is less “downtime” than you will experience following fat dissolving injections. The swelling following fat dissolving injections can be quite severe for the first 24-72 hours, although this is actually a good sign that the treatment is having its desired effect. I would recommend a review with an experienced injector and Coolsculpting specialist who can assess you in person (as a two-dimensional photo doesn't tell the "full 3-D story" of your face), discuss your goals, and formulate a treatment plan. I would also suggest a review at a clinic where both Coolsculpting and fat dissolving injections are available, so you get an unbiased opinion!

The best treatment for your double chin would be a combination of Thermage to tighten the skin and cool-mini or Kybella. An in office consultation is necessary to assess the degree of fat to see if you can fit into the cool-mini applicator.  The remainder of the fat  will be dissolved with Kybella.  Please consult an expert in Coolsculpting and lasers for the best cosmetic results.
