Thank you for the excellent question. This is a fairly common problem , you are right it is breast tissue - which is a combination of breast gland and fatty tissue. It can be removed in multiple ways - liposuction can be performed for removal of the fatty component, the breast gland itself will not come out in regular liposuction though. There is an instrument called minimally invasive microexcisional tool or cartilage shaver which is inserted through the liposuction incision and can remove this breast tissue without giving you a big scar . You should explore this option and search for board certified plastic surgeons who specialize in this technique. All the best to you !
Surgical excision or liposuction of the excess breast tissue is a way to address this excess breast tissue.Be sure to consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.Best wishes!Dr. DesaiHarvard Educated, Beverly Hills & Miami Beach Trained Double-Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
Breast tissue in the armpit is know as axillary breast tissue. If this is truly breast tissue then excision (removal) is necessary. This leaves a well placed scar in the armpit. If this tissue is fat then liposuction would work well. Please consult with several board certified plastic surgeons for the best recommendations.
Axillary breast tissue can be removed. This is often performed as a direct excision by the armpit. Best to be evaluated in person.
Trusha,Thanks for the question. A photo sometimes answers many of my questions. It is very common for women to have unwanted tissue in their axill/lateral breasts. it may be either fattty or breast tissue or a combination of both.Either way, I liposuction the tissue routinely using a small stab wound in the axilla. It takes less than an hour and you may return to work as soon as the next day (you will be a bit sore!). Rarely does it require an axillary or chest wall incision unless there is a tremendous amount of excess skin.Best of luck.Dr. T
