What are the complications and recurrence rate of axillary breast tissue removal?

I have axillary breast tissue under my armpit. It is connected to breast tissue. So it should be the extension of spence's tail. It never caused any pain or uncomfort, or change with period cycle.I am concerned about the complication of excision method. Could it lead to lymphedema? Could surgery harm the entensive lympho system there and harm the circulation of it? What is the recurrence rate after surgery removal? Some people mentioned it is about 90%.

The complication rate in recurrence rate for removal of axillary breast tissue by way of suction or direct excision should be close to zero. There is no chance of problems to lymphatic drainage in an otherwise healthy arm.

90% seems pretty high. Removal of axillary breast tissue is generally pretty straightforward with good success. Axillary breast tissue can be the cause of much discomfort, including pain , swelling, sweating, and rash. It can be successfully removed through a combination of direct excision and/or liposuction. The incision can be hidden in the axilla as one of the axillary creases. Possible risks are the usual pain, bruising, swelling, infection. Rarely, there can be damage to deeper structures, and the procedure has to be approached with care. In my experience, patients are very happy with the outcome, and often times in symptomatic cases, insurance may cover some or all of the costs of surgery. Best of luck. Thanks for the question. When liposuction first came out in the 80s we all tried to contour that area with liposuction and it never worked. Now it is done with surgical excision. I have not seen it recur and there is no reason the excision should cause lymphedema unless the surgeon is overly aggressive in the dissection. The goal is not to take it all out but to create a pleasing contour.
