Will fillers to the submalar region make cheekbones less or more prominent? Want volume to front/side face but less cheekbones?

I dont like my side view, because my cheekbones are prominent and face caves inward. I want a nice round curve from the side view with no cheekbone prominence. Am I correct in assuming that by adding submalar volume, it would give frontal fullness and side curve to the face by adding volume under the cheekbone to help make a curve? What fillers can help achieve this look or do I need submalar implants?

Volume and contouring of the cheeks can be created with well-placed fillers (Voluma, Radiesse, Bellafill, Contour) and Sculptra. Implants or fat are alternatives. Botox and radiofrequency can help slim and contour the jawline. Liposuction can help slim the face. Ultherapy, J Plasma and rf treatments can provide skin tightening and lift. It's hard to comment without evaluating you in person or seeing a set of photos. That being said, fillers can be used to address age related volume loss in the midface. When it comes to the malar and submalar regions, a filler such as Sculptra Aesthetic or Restylane Lyft could be used to correct for any volume loss. I recommend you schedule an in person consultation with an experienced aesthetic physician to determine an appropriate treatment plan.

HelloIn submalar area, we have some limitation in the amount of filler can be injected. The area is hyperdynamic, and quite thin. We would like to see even and homogenous and smooth results. Physician experience in Face sculpting is essential.Fat Transfer (Fat Grafting) is definitely is a good option if done correctly. It is our flaws that make us unique and beautiful. In my experience subtle changes make a big difference. For contouring, I typically suggest to my patients to plan to achieve the desired results in two visits about 2 week apart. I think you will achieve desired results by using filler in outer face in the pre parotid area  first and then the inner face. Radiesse, Juvederm Voluma and Retylane Lyft are great choices for mid face lift.

If you feel that your cheeks are too pronounced and you are looking to feel in the submalar area you have several choices.   For large volume in the buccal area you will do well with fillers like Juvederm Ultra, Ultra plus or Radiesse.  Juvederm Voluma and Restylane Lyft are typically better for the malar cheek area.  But, be careful and pay attention to the lower part of your face.  There's an art  and science to injections of fillers and it's very important to be specific with what and how much gets injected where.  Best,  Dr. Onir
