I see this new ultrasonic rhinoplasty come up a lot and it says that the recovery time is shorter than the traditional rhinoplasty, but I don't see anything that gives a range. As someone who is interested in a nose job but who has always been afraid of the traditional surgery, I'm interested in knowing more about this method.
Answer: Healing time after ultrasonic rhinoplasty Many surgeons will achieve great results with standard techniques but since ultrasonic rhinoplasty is new it means very few have the experience of using the new tool. My experience is that it is very useful since it allows precise bone sculpting. The bone reshaping and sculpting ability provides more versatility during surgery. Furthermore there is no collateral damage to soft tissues since the ultrasonic energy is tuned to the bone itself and does not affect the surrounding tissues. This means faster recovery times with little or no bruising in the early phase of healing. If you see in the video below of a patient who wanted her nose simply straightened and a dorsal reduction - when the cast comes off there is no bruising a 7 days ! The fact that a hammer and chisel technique is avoided there is more control thereby avoiding unwanted fractures and splintering of the bone. This is useful in controlling the bone reshaping very precisely and reduces the revision rate for bony irregularities. However, it still takes several months for the final stages of the settling down period of the healing and to see the final result.

Answer: Recovery depends Thanks for your question! Ultrasonic rhinoplasty or piezoelectric instrumentation use ultrasonic vibration to carve/sculpt nasal bone tissue. This is different than traditional osteotome or rasping of the nasal bones. There is some preliminary research that seems to show a decreased bruising risk when using ultrasonic instrumentation. Whether or not the recovery time is shorter I do not think has been fully demonstrated at this time, and depends on how the surgeon performs these maneuvers with or without ultrasonic energy. What I really think the benefit of the technology offers is improved ability to sculpt certain areas of the nose in certain cases. Warm regards.

Answer: Ultrasonic rhimoplasty The ultrasonic rhinoplasty is new and it remains to be seen if it gives better results than traditional rhinoplasty. The most important factor in rhinoplasty, however, is not the instrument that is used, but rather the skill and experience of the surgeon. Find the best rhinoplasty surgeon whether done the transonic or traditional way.

Answer: What is the expected recovery time for an ultrasonic rhinoplasty? Hello,Thank you for your question. The advantage of this technique is the possibility of cutting the bone in a smoother manner than the typical rasping and osteotome and may cause less bleeding while cutting the bone. Less bleeding will ensure less swelling and less bruising. The recovery varies from patient to patient. For my patients operated with the Closed and Atraumatic Technique even on the day 7 post op we don't see bruises and swelling is minimal. First half of swellings dissipate in two months, the other half following ten months. The final outcome can be seen at least after one year. Comparing to the open rhinoplasty Closed and Atraumatic Technique in Rhinoplasty minimizes swelling and bruises; maximizes healing, prevents tissue damage and eliminates a scar on the columella. Answer: Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty Great question, and the answer is we will see!The ultrasonic tools are very popular right now, but there isn't great long term data on if the results are dramatically different. Keep in mind that the ultrasonic shaver is another tool to be used IN rhinoplasty, is isn't a substitute. It is not like a "liquid rhino" which is filler injected into the nose instead of having surgery. In surgery, the ultrasonic device is used to file the bone instead of a traditional rasp. The overall skill of the surgeon matters most, no matter what tools they are using. Best of luckDr Rodman
