Dermaplaning and tanning? Will it make my tan fade?

Question

Considering dermaplaning before my wedding (45 days away) and have a few questions: 1) how long before my wedding should I do it, to ensure I have no peach fuzz but also no irritation? 2) how long between sessions? Will I have time to do it twice before my wedding? I’d like to try it once first? 3) I must be tan for my wedding (I know the risks here and am willing to take them). Will dermaplaning make my tan fade? And how long should I wait after before tanning again. Thank you!

Congratulations on your recent nuptials. Dermaplaning is a superficial exfoliation treatment that is usually done along with a facial or chemical peel. Typically, a dermaplane can be repeated every 4 weeks, but of course it depends on the skin type. Dermaplaning will not effect your tan. I would recommend with all exfoliating facial treatments waiting at least 1-2 weeks before exposing your skin to the sun. I do not recommend intentional tanning as it will cause your skin to prematurely age and increases your risk of skin cancer. Always wear an SPF 30+ and reapply every 1-1.5 hours.

Dermaplaning is an exfoliation treatment that removes dead skin cells.  Schedule the treatment 5-7 days before your wedding, however this may vary if you combine it with a chemical peel..  It should not affect an existing tan.

Hi there, the long term answer is yes. If done correctly you should be able to preserve your tan. Personally I would recommend doing your last dermaplaning treatment a week or so before your wedding and tanning a day or so after that on a low setting.
