How many CoolSculpting sessions does one need per treated area? (Photo)

You may start to see results as little as three weeks after treatment, though the most dramatic results tend to be apparent after about two months. Thank you for your question. It is a bit difficult to tell from the pictures alone if the fat is subcutaneous or visceral and how many sessions you would need. Hello Mark82M,Thanks for your post and photo. When I first looked at your photo without reading your description my aesthetic eye went to your lower abdomen as if it were the area in question, Since your lower abdomen was never treated it looks natural and fuller, but above it there is irregularity to the shape and contour. The great thing about CoolSculpting is that it works, the bad thing about CoolSculpting is that it works. It appears that you've had too much fat in certain areas removed and not in others...thus the irregular contour. The issue may not just be loose skin, but fat removed where you actually want it...or need it.I would get a second opinion from a center that offers both CoolSculpting and surgical liposculpture so you may get a balanced and independent recommendation.Best of luck,Oscar A. The amount of sessions for Coolsculpting can vary. For best results with Coolsculpting, a combination approach is needed. I recommend adding radiofrequency treatments like Vanquish, Venus Legacy, Exilis Ultra for skin tightening and with Z wave/Cellutone for skin smoothing. However, a Vaser with ThermiRF procedure is needed to give more contouring, fat removal, skin tightening and definition. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Hi Mark.  Thanks for the question.  It's difficult to give you an accurate answer based on the picture only. With each CS treatment you will lose approximately 25% of the fat in that area, so it really depends on what you started with and what you are hoping to achieve.  If you are unsure of your results, I'd suggest being evaluated by another physician who is a certified CS provider.

There is a lot going on in your photograph, and without additional views or (more preferably) an in person exam, an accurate asssessment cannot be given. Here are some general tips: make sure that your Coolsculpting provider is Coolsculpting certified. Just because they have the machine does not make them qualified to assess and treat you -- it's a sculpting procedure and if the fat isn't removed appropriately, it can leave you worse off. Also, see if your provider has advanced training in Coolsculpting from the "Coolsculpting University" course. This course provides techniques beyond that which any other provider receives upon getting their machine.  Good luck!

Usually 1-2 treatments is enough in my experience for CoolSculpting, but of course patients differ.  Be sure to discuss your goals and concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and consider the pros and the cons. Be certain your surgeon is properly certified.  I've attached a link where you can start your search. 

Hello thank you for your picture and your questions. Coolsculpting is very effective in removing that "pinchable" fat that people can't burn off with diet and exercise. If you've had three different sessions on your abdomen but there is still skin/fat that can be pinched then it could be that it's not fat anymore and just loose skin. Coolsculpting is meant to destroy fat, some people experiencing retraction of their skin, but that doesn't happen with everyone. I suggest you go back to your provider and voice your concerns. It may be that you need a radio frequency/heat treatment to get some tightening. Hope this helps, Dr. S.  

Mark, it's difficult to say for sure how many more treatments you would need because we don't know specifically what area was treated and what it looked like before.  If you could post a picture with front and side view of the treated area, along with markings to show what was treated, it would help.  It was also help to see your before picture.  That way, we can see what response you had.  If you haven't had much response after three sessions, then it's unlikely that you'll see anything more with additional treatments.  
From your picture, you do have subcutaneous fat.  Because visceral fat is within the abdominal cavity, (and sits behind your abdominal muscles), it won't appear as a pouch of fat.  Furthermore, if you can pinch it, that's subcutaneous fat.  Lastly, if you can grab a substantial portion of it, ie pinch and inch, then that is fat and not skin.
