I had coolsculpting on my abdomen three weeks ago and am still in pain. I went to the ER for it last week and they checked my blood work, they said I'm fine give it time. Is this very abnormal? When will the pain subside? It was nerve pain but now the whole area is very sore :(

Answer: Nerve pain after Coolsculpting Hi, Thank you for your question.Nerve pain is a possible side effect that should be discussed during the CoolSculpting consultation. Typically it resolves in 2-3 weeks after treatment. Depending on the type of applicator you used, you might be more likely to experience nerve pain. In my experience, patients who use the larger CoolMax applicator for debulking tend to report more tenderness/nerve pain after treatment. You can use a short course of gabapentin to help ease the nerve pain in the meantime but it is self limiting. A compression garment may also help to provide some support.Hope this helps!

Depending on the applicator used, or the body part that was treated, the pain and discomfort can vary significantly. The pain can even vary from body parts of body part within the same individual. Usually discomfort discomfort last for 2 to 3 weeks, along with the numbness of the skin. There's a small percentage of patients that actually have a very heightened Sense of discomfort after the procedure. Rarely do we need to prescribed medications, but it Happens. If the pain is preventing you from sleeping, Or last longer than 2 to 3 weeks, I would recommend talking to your provider. Hope this helps!
