We have both devices in our office, and so are in the unique position to adequately compare them. As far as we are concerned, SculpSure is the much better device. Both will give about the same results at about 20-25%, and both do permanent fat reduction. But because Coolsculpting has the significant suction component to draw the fat into the handpiece, it has much greater complications, with most patients experiencing pain, swelling, bruising, numbness, and often times nodularity afterwards. Since SculpSure does not have any suction component, we find patients tolerate it much, much better. SS has 4 separate handpieces, so we can customize the treatment to meet a patients needs, and can treat multiple areas at a time, while CS can only do one area at a time. SS is faster at 25 minutes, versus 1 hour for CS (although the newer versions have been reduced to 35 minutes, still longer). And, if one is treating a symmetric area, like arms or flanks, CS may be 2 hours (one hour for each side), versus 25 minutes with SS. Finally, because SS works by laser, it provides the added benefit of collagen stimulation, so it gives a skin tightening component to help with smoother, more supple skin appearance.
