CoolSculpting uses a patented technique called cryolipolysis to freeze fat cells, sending them into apoptosis (i.e., slow cell death). Once the fat cells have disintegrated into their components, they are gradually removed from the body through the lymphatic system, and ultimately excreted through the urine. That is why – even though the fat cells are killed during the treatment time – you do not see your results right away. Also, although CoolSculpting is noninvasive, it usually causes some swelling for the first week or so. Although it is unusual, I have had a few patients who have claimed to see a difference in the amount of fat in a treated area just one or two weeks after CoolSculpting. Many see good results at one month, but better and at two months and best at three months. The timing of results completely depends on the patient and his or her own metabolism. Using Zimmer Z-Wave (radial pulsed therapy) after CoolSculpting seems to improve the CoolSculpting results by up to 50%.
