What to do if the Coolsculpting 35 minute applicator became unsuctioned.

Thank you for your question. In rare instances, patients undergoing the CoolSculpting procedure can experience a “pop-off” where an applicator is released too soon. Thankfully, there is a therapeutic window in which the treatment is still effective if this occurs. With the new CoolAdvantage applicators (35 minute cycles), treatment time needs to be at least 30 minutes to be effective. If your treatment time was less than 30 minutes, you should have the opportunity to be retreated at no cost. Consult your CoolSculpting provider regarding scheduling your retreatment. Good luck!

A full treatment
with the CoolAdvantage applicator is 30 mins of continuous contact/cooling. The
applicator that came off with 9 mins left did not get a full treatment and the
one that popped off with only 4 mins left did receive a full treatment
according to CoolSculpt guidelines. Make sure to follow-up with your provider
in a month to see about retreatment in the area that did not get the full 30
minutes. 

At this point, it's too early to tell what your final results will be. For best results with Coolsculpting, I recommend a combination.  I recommend adding radiofrequency treatments like Vanquish, Venus Legacy, Exilis Ultra for skin tightening and with Z wave/Cellutone for skin smoothing. In our practice, we use a Fire and Ice treatment of Coolsculpting with Vanquish and are getting great results. VASER with ThermiRF are a great alternative. Best, Dr. Emer

How unfortunate that the pop offs occurred so late in the treatment! Usually when pop offs occur the treatment will need to be re-administered. I wouldn't worry about them being uneven as long as you treat them again. You could try just treating them one at a time to prevent them from popping off again.

Great question. Generally speaking on the new applicators if you complete greater than 30mins on the 35min applicator (Cooladvantage) then its considered a full treatment and you won't need to repeat it. If you get a pop off prior to that, you should definitely get another treatment and it's highly recommended that you start from the beginning to achieve the full effect.

I would wait the 3 months to see your results before worrying too much about the lost time.  The difference will likely to be little to none.  Good luck with your transformation.

It appears you were using the Cooladvangtage handpiece. This gives shorter treatment times and possibly better results. I don't think the results will be noticeably different. I think that you should see results from the treatment as well. I always use the Zimmer Z wave after treatment to get even better results.
