I heard that implants in the face arent really worth it because there wont really be that much of a drastic change if you have naturally thick skin / facial tissue, as opposed to thin, which would make a super drastic change. Is this something that's true and worth considering before deciding to do any sort of implant?

I have been using a short course of steroids--- IV Decadron during surgery and a Medrol dose pack post operatively on most of my facelifts and rhinoplasties. In my experience, a short course of steroids does more to prevent swelling than elevation, ice and everything else put together....
