Best practice is waiting a full 2 weeks before or after getting the COVID vaccine, or any vaccine, to get lip filler!
Dear Jasmin1227,it is probably best to wait a few days in order to see if you will have any reaction to the vaccine. I would recommend finding a plastic surgeon to perform you lip injections. Most of my patients have results that last at least 6 months.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Thank you for sharing your question. Once you are back to normal and not having any side effects of the vaccine you should be fine to have fillers placed. Hope this helps.
Great question! There's been only one study published with the Moderna Vaccine showing that three of 3,000 subjects had swelling adverse reaction to the vaccine in areas of filler injections. Two of the patients were treated with benadryl and one with cortisone shot to reduce the swelling. Since that study and millions of individuals vaccinated world wide there hasnt been other reports on the matter, which suggests that the covid vaccine is not a contra- indication to filler injections and visa versa. There’s really no need to wait any set amount of time between vaccinations and having lip fillers.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
