I've just started prp to thicken up my hair. Would doing it monthly for a whole year give more benefit than the standard treatment course of 3-4 sessions monthly as recommended? Cost isn't an issue for me so I'm trying to sort through the science and scalability. The studies consistently report that ensuring the platelet density is 5-7 times the blood is the most important factor for ensuring success. That and avoiding Lidocaine. What else can enhance my results besides increased frequency?

Answer: Optimal PRP treatments Thank you for your question. It is hard to say when the diminishing return from frequent PRP injections would occur. I am certain there would be a plateau at some point. You are correct regarding the PRP kits. Ideally, you want to go to a center where they use a PRP kit that concentrates the platelets in the plasma to a level 6 to 7 times the concentration in whole blood. A lot of the kits on the market will only concentrate at a level of 1 to 2 times whole blood. If expense is not an issue, you may consider adding micronized ALMI fat to your treatment regimen. This involves harvesting a syringe of your fat and passing it through a series of filters to leave micronized fat that is rich in stem cells. It is then combined with PRP and injected or injected followed by PRP injections. It would be worth adding low level laser therapy (LLLT) in the form of a wearable device (LaserCap, Capillus, LaserBand). These will promote protein synthesis in the hair follicles and enhance blood flow to the scalp.I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.
