Is it normal for hair to shed more after PRP treatment?

I've had 1 PRP treatment, which was in late July of this year. I'm supposed to go back this month for a 2nd round, but I am hesitant to do so bc ever since I had it done, I've noticed a definite increase in hair shedding. Can anything be done to reverse this? I am a 29 yr old female with no family history of female pattern hair loss, however, about 15-16 years ago, I suffered from trichotilmania for about a year or 2, which may be the cause of a bald spot in the back of my head.

Thank you for your question about Platelet Rich Plasma, PRP. PRP would not cause an increase in hairloss or shedding.  There may be an underlying medical condition contributing to the hairloss.  I would recommend seeing your primary car doctor for blood work to make sure nothing else is abnormal.
To be sure, see two or more experienced, licensed and board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.

No, prp should not increase hair shedding. For best results, I do prp with progesterone injections to improve both hair growth and quality. I also have all my patients use viviscal, rogaine, and propecia when getting prp. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hair loss expert. It would be very strange to see PRP involved with increased hair shedding. Personally, I have not seen this reaction. Even when there is a lack luster to new hair growth, generally existing hair becomes thicker and healthier.
I recommend you find a good Integrative or Functional Medicine physician in your area. There's a good chance they'll nail the issue down and it won't have anything to do with PRP. 
I also suggest that you let the Integrative Medicine physician sort some things out for you prior to your next PRP session. Let them stabilize the hair shedding issue and then go back to the PRP therapy. Doing too many things at one time may confuse or mask issues.
