I'm 40 years old.I was diagnosed with early stage of male pattern baldness and I've been using finasteride since 1year ago.I've received 2 sessions of prp injection.Since 6 months ago(20 days after the second session of prp)I've experienced prickling, tingling and itching in my scalp, hands and feet, hives on my forearms, palpitation and hot flashes which partially responded to antihistamines and gradually improved but not completely. What's the cause?Should I receive third session of prp injection?
Answer: PRP for hair loss The simple answer is you can't become ill from your own platelets. PRP is if anything a healthy part of your immune system, and causes healing. There are at least 20 growth factors that help your hair grow. Hope this is helpful. JB

Answer: Prp for hair loss and side effects--add progesterone, viviscal, rogaine, propecia It is unlikely that prp caused this reaction. If it persists, I recommend following up with your Doctor. For best results with prp, I do prp with progesterone injections to get the best results with hair growth and quality. I also have all my patients use viviscal, rogaine, and propecia when getting prp. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hair loss expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: PRP side effects; Englewood cliffs nj In my opinion, PRP alone, without any additives, should not produce any allergic reactions. It is your own plasma. If one adds A cell or any activating agent, it is possible to be allergic to the foreign proteins or chemicals. I would also consider stopping the finasteride. Side effects have been reported. Answer: PRP and delayed allergy Thanks for your question. You should speak both with your hair doctor and your internist (you also may need an allergist). I have done over 500 PRP injections, and I have never had a patient have what you are describing. That being said, it sounds like you are describing an allergic reaction. You should be tested to figure out what you have an allergy to... it is unlikely it is the PRP. Most allergies do not have more than a 3 day delay, and surely not a 20 day delay. More likely, you have an environemntal or food allergy. Best of luck figuring out what you are reacting to...

Answer: Systemic reaction following PRP Thank you for your question. It is highly unlikely the symptoms you are experiencing are due to the PRP injections into your scalp. In essence, you are having your own platelets and plasma re-injected. The best analogy I can draw to PRP is when you scraped your knee as a child, the sticky yellow substance on the surface and around the edges is close to PRP. It is what helped heal the wound and skin grow back in. You may want to consider scheduling an appointment with an allergist to see if there is something else you are coming in contact with that is precipitating your symptoms. I would wait on doing a 3rd PRP session until you get to the root cause of your symptoms.I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.
