I'm 7 weeks post lipo. Am I still swollen or am I beginning to gain belly fat? (Photo)

I'm 7 wks post lipo of my abdomen, flanks, full back, legs and arms. At 5 wks post op my belly was flat. Now it's bulging out almost the way it looked prior to surgery. I'm not yet back in the gym and I did not wear my compression garment with foam pads for about 3 days straight, at two different times. Am I still swollen or am I gaining belly fat?

I would suggest wearing them as described by your doctor. It's even important to wear them during exercise. Please talk with your doctors office for his guidelines.

The vast majority of patients undergoing liposuction are capable of returning to their work the following day. Soreness is usually minimal. My patients may return to full athletic activity as soon as they wish. I ask that a compressive garment be used in the first few weeks.

It looks as though swelling throughout the surplus skin of the abdomen is creating any significant contour issues. This should improve with time. However the surplus skin is not going away and if it becomes an aesthetic issue after healing will need surgical removal.
