Is rib and ear cartilage enough to bulk up and lengthen my nose close to original shape and size? Or Will I need an Implant (medpor/goretex)? I had rhinoplasty 9 months ago. The nose was heavily reduced and is extremly uneven with valve collapse. Please advise. I am so heartbroken over this nightmare. It doesnt even look like the same person :(
Answer: Is revision rhinoplasty the answer? Here's what you need to know Thank you for your question, and I’m sorry to hear that you’re unhappy with your results. At nine months post-op, your swelling likely hasn’t subsided, so I would recommend waiting until you hit the one-year mark to seek a revision rhinoplasty. With that said, your nose does appear to be quite truncated compared to your original nose. Bolstering the length of your nose with rib cartilage may be your best option to restore length to your nose. I strongly encourage you to schedule an in-person consultation with a reputable board-certified facial plastic surgeon who has extensive experience performing revision rhinoplasty surgeries.

Answer: Revision rhinoplasty A revision rhinoplasty specialist will be able to comprehensively address the issues you have with your nose. DCF (Diced cartilage fascia) provides permanent results without the risk of warping or resorption of en bloc rib cartilage, and with a much lower rate of migration, infection, or extrusion than synthetic grafts. With a rhinoplasty surgeon experienced in this technique, diced cartilage wrapped in fascia is a consistent, reliable, long-lasting technique for creating dorsal augmentation with excellent results. Results are very surgeon dependent, so choosing the right surgeon is important. Consult with 2-3 of these surgeons in person and determine your comfort level with their approach, demeanor, and before and after results. Good luck! @drdonyoo

Answer: Revision rhinoplasty To properly answer your question, an in-person consultation would be needed. Do you have septum available, or was a septoplasty performed? To help in cases like yours, I can sometimes find septum to harvest even if a septoplasty was performed. Ear cartilage can be useful as well. If you have not already asked for your operative report, it would be a good idea. Revision rhinoplasty is extremely technically challenging, so please see a board certified plastic surgeon who has decades of experience with revision rhinoplasty surgery.

Answer: Nose severely reduced: can length andnbukkmbenrestored? With rib cartilage you should be able to lengthen the nose and restore some size but your original nose cannot be identically restored. Adding goretex or silicone or another artificial material Would be a mistake.

Answer: Over-resected... you had a masculine and fairly attractive nose to begin with.... sadly, you have been over-resected, shortened and lost all tip projection... a lot of this can be restored/corrected with a revision rhinoplasty and structural grafting with either autologous or cadaveric costochondral cartilage grafting... good luck...
