Would a tip-plasty be a good option for me to have a slimmer more delicate nose? (Photos)

I am interested in getting my nose done. I dislike how wide the tip of my nose is and I would like it to be a little more narrow. I was looking into a tip-plasty, but II’ve seen mixed reviews on the procedure. Do you think it is a good option to achieve a more delicate and slimmer nose or would I need a full rhinoplasty instead?

Thank you for your question &mdash; this is a very common and very important concern.
Based on what can be seen in your photos, there appears to be a mild deviation in addition to the width of the nasal tip. If only the tip is corrected with a tip-plasty, this deviation may remain and could become more noticeable or bothersome to you over time.
That does not mean tip-plasty is a bad procedure. In selected patients, it can work very well. However, the key point is that the nose should be evaluated as a whole, not just the tip. Sometimes correcting only the tip does not fully meet the patient’s expectations if other structural issues are present.My recommendation in any case would be the following:
Ask your surgeon to show you two different surgical simulations on your photos:1.one showing a correction with tip-plasty only2.one showing the surgeon’s recommendation for a natural, balanced result
Seeing these options visually &mdash; whether with 3D imaging or Photoshop &mdash; allows you to make a much more objective and confident decision. What a patient imagines as “tip-plasty only” and what a surgeon considers a natural result can sometimes be different, and visual planning helps bridge that gap.
Once you see both options clearly, you will be able to decide much more comfortably which approach best matches your expectations.

A "tip-plasty" is just a rhinoplasty where everything but the tip looks perfect, and the surgeon is only working on the tip. But in practice, that almost never happens. The whole nose needs to fit together attractively. On your nose, for example, you have that little bump on the bridge. You might want that lowered, because if the tip is smaller after surgery, the bump, which sits close to the tip, might *look* *larger* after its neighbor the tip got smaller. Get it?

Even if you like the bump, when the tip gets smaller, the entire rest of the nose might now look too wide, and should be narrowed a bit so it fits with the new size of the tip.

You do seem to have, possibly, thicker than average skin, so the surgeon would need to inspect and feel your nose, to determine how much of the width of your tip is cartilage and how much is skin. The cartilage can be modified to make the tip narrower, but the skin thickness cannot be changed, so that assessment would help give you (and the surgeon) an idea of how much change is possible.

So bottom line: don't worry about tipplasty vs rhinoplasty. Rather, work on finding a surgeon whom you can trust to get you a good result.

Based on your photos, you appear to have relatively thick nasal skin, and a wide and slightly asymmetrical nasal appearance on front view. On profile, you appear to have an over projected bridge appearance and a dorsal hump. Goals of rhinoplasty surgery or to help somebody's nose blend in, and not call attention to itself. I believe the combination of nasal narrowing on front view, and hump removal on profile, would lead to the best aesthetic result. Please consider meeting with several reputable rhinoplasty specialists who have robust online galleries of favorable results, along with positive consumer online reviews. Thank you for your question. You are an excellent candidate for rhinoplasty. I think it is one of the most beautifying surgeries that we do as plastic surgeons. A large portion of my practice is dedicated to rhinoplasty surgery. In your case, a tip-plasty would not be sufficient.  You definitely need a full rhinoplasty. It is important to only see plastic surgeons with extensive experience in rhinoplasty, ie perform at least 6 per month and have performed hundreds of cases. Also, critically evaluate on-line galleries to see if their art form resonates with yours. Rhinoplasty is definitely a grey haired plastic surgeon's sport. Best wishes to you.

Maneuvers for your surgery would include dorsal hump reduction, tip refinement, nasal tip deprojection, tip support, among other maneuvers.
