Sun exposure after rhinoplasty - Why?

Hi @19dutch and thank you for your question, the reason for not exposing to the sun is that when exposed to the sun, purple or black spots can appear in areas of facial contour. The periorbital area is particularly affected by these blood pigmentations which are called dark circles under the eyes if they receive direct sunlight and generate a tired look that diminishes over time depending on their size - 6-9 months. But all swelling resolves, so going into the sun after rhinoplasty isn't terrible. If you develop nasal redness after rhinoplasty, that would be a good reason to avoid direct sun exposure since UV rays can cause skin redness to turn a shade of brown. Hope this helps you. Dr Joseph

Hello and thank you for your question. In all operations, inflammation can occur. Therefore, when the inflammation meets the sunlight directly, it causes maculation. Thus, you should avoid direct sunlight contact with your skin. In general, if you have any kind of bruising in any kind of area of your body, once it meets direct sunlight, it can cause maculation.
